Hello

im expecting a boy and I love the name felix. However that is the male version of felicity.

felicity is 9 and I have archie who’s 8… baby will arrive in a few months time but wondered if it would be to weird to even consider felix?

thanks

larrb

A bit too close but think.

ohmyohmy123 · 17/06/2023 22:32

I'd use it. Shortening the two names doesn't sound the same so what's the issue. All of my children have the same initials - doesn't cause a problem.

Felicity will be called Fliss or flick

Felix will be fe, fi

BelindaBears · 17/06/2023 22:33

I wouldn’t, it’s basically the same name.

larrb · 17/06/2023 22:36

Yeah that’s what I thought to. My daughter gets Flick for short.

Struggling for boys names, they’re so much harder than girls

Ah love the name but sorry too similar.

I would do something like Rory or Jasper!

With the age difference, I think Felicity, Archie and Felix is acceptable.
You could announce that he is named after his sister and brother and call him ..
Felix Charles - Archie is contained in the letters of his name.

user1492757084 · 18/06/2023 03:46

Do you like Alex?

Theoldwoman · 18/06/2023 06:21

Personally I wouldn’t use another F name. Or one ending in another E sound.

Some suggestions:

Felicity, Archie and Reuben
Felicity, Archie and Jonah
Felicity, Archie and Max
Felicity, Archie and Lucas
Felicity, Archie and Benjamin
Felicity, Archie and Sebastian

larrb · 18/06/2023 06:56

Felicity Archie and Jasper
Felicity Archie and Rafferty
Felicity Archie and Felix

Any of these go or def don’t go?

soooo hard!! Least I’ve got a few months to decide

thanks ladies

Felix is literally the male version. Sorry but it is too close. Same meaning and most people are aware they mean happy/ lucky so they don't work next to each other. Both lovely names though!
Same as having Olivia & Oliver
How about:-
Theo, Oliver, Hugh, Miles, Isaac, Alexander, Sebastian, Max ?

larrb · 18/06/2023 07:04

Issac’s a cute name- just want something that not everyone in his year group has 😆 something a bit different

There are fewer Miles these days, agree boys names are so hard.

Felicity Archie and Jasper
Felicity Archie and Rafferty
Felicity Archie and Felix

You can’t do Felicity, Archie and Felix it’s like having Olivia, Archie and Oliver. Or Harry, Archie and Harriet.

I like Jasper off that list, it also means you wouldn’t have all three names ending in an “ee” sound, which could be a bit twee.

SnapPop · 18/06/2023 07:42

Jasper from your list - Felix is too similar

Vexxa · 18/06/2023 11:26

Love Jasper and it goes nicely with your other names!

AlltheFs · 18/06/2023 11:31

Of course you can have Felix.

For the vast majority of his life he’s not going to be walking around with his sister so her name is irrelevant.

He’s not going to walk into a board meeting aged 30 and introduce himself as Felix, brother of Felicity.

I have a Felicity, I wouldn’t use Felix only because we have a pet with that name. If Felicity had a brother he would be William or Alexander.

GoodVibesHere · 18/06/2023 11:34

Felix sounds too similar. How about:

Jude
Sebastian
Gabriel
Rowan
Tobias
Monty

Dazedandbemused0 · 18/06/2023 12:15

I’m surprised to see posters say that Felix is fine if you have a Felicity. I strongly disagree with this! I think you need to scrap Felix. I had to scrap Felix from my list too because I already have a Tabitha and thought I can’t have two cat names 😂 so I feel your pain. But Felix just doesn’t work. Jasper goes best of all your suggestions and is nicest.

DuchessOfSausage · 18/06/2023 12:41

Felix is too similar to Felicity, and he'd be unlikely to be the only Felix.
Issac will almost certainly be the only one around, but there might be an Isaac.

RuthW · 18/06/2023 13:29

Felix is fine.

ohmyohmy123 · 18/06/2023 14:44

I like Rafferty - or Johnny/Jonnie

larrb · 18/06/2023 15:03

I have a real debate going on 😂 my son loves Harry too- I just feel that’s a bit to ‘normal’ lovely name but not ‘different’

OP posts:
DuchessOfSausage · 18/06/2023 16:24

@larrb, but you have an Archie, which has been in the top 20 most popular names for the past 15 years.
Felix is not particularly unusual. Harry has been very popular for decades though.

GoodVibesHere · 18/06/2023 16:27

Harry is great! If your son loves it too, he'll feel part of the decision and that's lovely for him and his new brother.

PickledScrump · 18/06/2023 19:14

I think it’s fine. There’s 9 years between them, they won’t be going to school together. They will be in quite different stages of life so it’s not like you’ll encounter any issues. It’s a great name use it.

Also I’m pretty set on felicity for my baby, but as you have one do you mind if I ask if you have come across any problems or comments? Does she like her name?
