Evander, Aldric, Rupert or Arnold ?

We have 3 sons already and so likely to have a 4th! We have a girls name (Clara) at the ready but would like a boys name to tie in with our other 3 boys.

We do like;
Evander, Aldric, Rupert and Arnold.

What's everyone's preference out of those, or anyone got any other suggestions?

Rupert although it’s gaining popularity here.

Caspianberg · 10/06/2023 18:14

Alaric

doeandfawn · 10/06/2023 19:01

Love Aldric!

PN54DJS · 10/06/2023 19:26

Rupert is such a wet name

shadowchancesassy · 10/06/2023 19:31

Evander

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 10/06/2023 19:35

Rupert

ourflagmeansdeath · 11/06/2023 13:43

I'm really not keen on any of them but I love love Clara so your girls name is definitely good.

ColdHandsHotHead · 11/06/2023 16:55

NOT Arnold!

Spanielsarepainless · 11/06/2023 18:12

I like Alaric, like a PP.

ToeJamming · 11/06/2023 18:20

Evander is a boxer (minus an ear)
Aldric sounds like Old Rick
Alaric is nice
Arnold is really old fashoned
Rupert is popular here (and a bit wet)

Evander or Rupert. Not keen on the other two, sound like try hard old man names.

Topseyt123 · 11/06/2023 21:44

I like Rupert, but none of the rest really.

toastofthetown · 11/06/2023 21:45

Evander by far. I love Van as a diminutive too.

Rupert is gaining popularity (though less popular than Clara so maybe that's not a concern) which puts me off though I do like the name, Arnold's natural shorting is Arnie which I don't like and Aldric just doesn't appeal (Alaric is far nicer to me).

Kalodin · 12/06/2023 06:25

Alaric just doesn't sound right, isn't easy to say with my accent. Although, does sound pretty.

I think Evander is our preferred. But I do love Arnie. And dies match our other 3 boys names who have old man names 😂

My baby nephew is Arnold/Arnie and he's adorable. 😍

booktokbear · 12/06/2023 06:44

Evander is nice, he'll no doubt be known as Evan.

Aldric sounds like Baldrick (though as you're not from the UK that may not mean anything!)

Arnie is actually really cutie!

booktokbear · 12/06/2023 06:45

I have no idea where I got that you're not from the uk! I'm so sorry!

Kalodin · 12/06/2023 06:50

Might have been because I mentioned accent?

I think Arnold or Evander are my favourite.

If anyone has any suggestions, would welcome them. I'd share my other 3 boys names but it would definitely be "outing"

I only like Evander.
Geoffrey?
Derrick / Derek?
Clyde?

Rightnowstraightaway · 12/06/2023 07:19

Or Clarence? Sounds a bit like Clara?

Rightnowstraightaway · 12/06/2023 07:20

Clifford?
Desmond?

Berlinlover · 12/06/2023 07:20

None of them.

Rupert is such a wet name

The only Rupert I Know is a huge bouncer, anything but wet

CrushOnJonah · 12/06/2023 07:33

Evander is just the boxer to me, I like the sound and look of it but I struggle to get past that link.

Aldric sounds like a wizard or someone from the round table.

Arnold and Rupert are very wet to me. I met a baby Rupert at my DDs baby class and I just couldn't say it out loud. It just felt incredibly daft. Roo is a nice nickname.

Leander? Lysander?
