Which do you prefer?

Neither, they are both very old fashioned.

gettingtherhymewrong · 03/06/2023 21:18

I like both, and would call them classic rather than old fashioned.

Veryfishy · 03/06/2023 21:18

Margaret Anne , though both are lovely and classic

TheYear2000 · 03/06/2023 21:20

I like both!

Rauha · 03/06/2023 21:20

Margaret Anne

Sandysandwich · 03/06/2023 21:20

Elizabeth Lilly, by a long way

Schum · 03/06/2023 21:22

Elizabeth, although both are boring.

Bideshi · 03/06/2023 21:22

Both lovely though I prefer Lily with one 'l'.
Congratulations on choosing 2 such lovely choices.

Decafflatteplease · 03/06/2023 21:27

Both are beautiful names. Elizabeth was on our name list it's a beautiful name. However Elizabeth lily is quite a mouthful and quite alot of l sounds. Margaret Anne is easier to say. Can you switch them round so Elizabeth Anne or Margaret lily. Elizabeth still my favourite of the two!

Lonelylonelylonely · 03/06/2023 21:28

Prefer Elizabeth to Margaret by a long shot, but Elizabeth Lilly is a bit too samey in my mind.

Other options:
Elizabeth Rose
Elizabeth Anne

Or, if you like flower names, Margaret Anne, nn Daisy (which is an old-fashioned pet name for Margaret) - personally I love Daisy as a nn. Cute on a little girl, but with a name like Margaret she'd also have the possibility for more professional nn or using her full name when older.

Also with a vowel at the start of the middle name, take care that the initials don't spell out anything eg MAD, MAN, MAP etc

buddyhollysglasses · 03/06/2023 21:29

Margaret 🤢

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 03/06/2023 21:29

Both are beautiful, classic names. Elegant and timeless.

That said, I think Elizabeth Mary is slightly more elegant than Elizabeth Lily (I appreciate I am suggesting a new name!).

Margaret Anne is also beautiful. Maybe Elizabeth Margaret is another option?

Mary Margaret is also lovely.

pinkblushes · 03/06/2023 21:35

I think Lily is often used as a shortened version of Elizabeth

SemperIdem · 03/06/2023 22:08

Too many L’s in Elizabeth Lily.

I prefer Elizabeth to Margaret though, could Elizabeth Anne work?

Sometherusername · 03/06/2023 22:09

Elizabeth Anne

GloriousD · 03/06/2023 22:09

Margot Lily

wizzywig · 03/06/2023 22:10

Very royal family

Wisterical · 03/06/2023 22:15

I don't dislike Elizabeth, Lily (one L) or Anne, but here in North-East Margaret has a very bad association!

I think Lily is often used as a shortened version of Elizabeth

It is, so for that reason I'd go with Elizabeth Anne.

Not Margaret, it's horrid.

Starsandrain · 03/06/2023 22:22

I really dislike Margaret so would go for Elizabeth but not too keen on that either. I do love the name Lily though.

PatientZorro · 03/06/2023 22:23

Elizabeth Lilly is really lovely.

Howtohideasausage · 03/06/2023 22:24

Lily is a pet name for Elizabeth. I actually like Margaret. Maggie is lovely.

MadEyeMoodysEye · 03/06/2023 22:24

I love Elizabeth but Lily is a diminitive form of it so I think it would be odd to have both.
Elizabeth Anne or Elizabeth Margaret work though. Or what about Elizabeth Margot, Elizabeth Rose, Elizabeth Alice?

Snowdropsarelovely · 03/06/2023 22:28

Both are lovely, but to be honest I'm really loving Margaret at the moment! It's an underused pretty name. I know a Margaret in her early 20's

RuthW · 03/06/2023 23:03

Elizabeth Anne is my choice.
