Been round in circles deciding a name for our little boy who is 1 week old...

Shortlist is finally down to Elliot or Jake...
(Surname is Lewis)

Which is best!?!

Elliott

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 30/05/2023 11:20

I prefer jake but think Elliot works better with your surname (and it’s also a nice name)

foreverbasil · 30/05/2023 11:23

I think the opposite. Jake works much better with Lewis but I think Jacob is nicer

I agree!

Rainbowqueeen · 30/05/2023 11:28

Me three!! Jacob with Jake as NM

DipperandMabel · 30/05/2023 11:31

Jake (Jacob) is nicer in my opinion but Elliot goes well with surname too

Goblinwife · 30/05/2023 11:32

I agree with PPs - Elliot unless you go for Jacob with nn Jake. My DH’s name is Jake and he hates not having a ‘proper’ name to fall back on - he finds it too young and informal now he’s an adult.

TomatoSandwiches · 30/05/2023 11:34

Elliot

LadyDanburysHat · 30/05/2023 11:35

Elliot. It is one of my favourite boys names.

cptartapp · 30/05/2023 11:39

Jacob is lovely. Much the nicest.
Jake over Elliott which seems effeminate to my ears.

eatdrinkandbemerry · 30/05/2023 11:41

Eliot

loislovesstewie · 30/05/2023 11:41

I'd have Jacob, and use the diminutive Jake. Nice to have the full name in case your LO prefers that when older.

Nannydoodles · 30/05/2023 11:50

Another one for Jacob with nn of Jake!!
Jacob Lewis sounds good - solid & dependable.

littlellewis1 · 30/05/2023 11:51

Thanks all. Unfortunately not too keen on Jacob as was avoiding more traditional names.
He is a little brother to Rory Smile

Hadn't thought of that!

Not keen on Jake.

Elliot would be lovely.

Mumofgirls2017 · 30/05/2023 12:22

Elliott

RuthW · 30/05/2023 12:22

Jake. It's a nightmare where I work where the names can be reversed.

AvoCuddle2 · 30/05/2023 13:13

Jacob nn Jake gets my vote!

LoonyLois · 30/05/2023 13:16

Jake sounds better with your surname IMHO. Elliot Lewis is a bit harsh sounding and a bit of a mouthful

Heckythump1 · 30/05/2023 13:22

Not Jake.
Elliott is lovely though :)

ourflagmeansdeath · 30/05/2023 15:36

Rory's lovely by the way. I'm not keen at all on the name Elliot and I don't think it goes great with Lewis, so Jake. Jacob would work better but if you don't like it then I don't think there's an issue with Jake Lewis.

Hearti · 30/05/2023 15:39

Jake and Rory are fab together!

RainbowFish4 · 30/05/2023 17:32

Both great options but I particularly like Jake. Think that whether that becomes Jacob is down to your personal preference - I don’t think it’s necessary if you like it better as is!

user1492757084 · 31/05/2023 08:02

Jake always seems very informal.
Elliot Lewis sounds the most handsome.

How about James?
Rory and James

Or James Edward - Jed
