Bonnie Francesca

We have 2 daughters and are thinking through names for DD 3. We are pretty set on Francesca as a middle name (family name) and the moment our favourite first names are Bonnie, Nancy and Eliza. Our other 2 DD names our similar (I think) in that they’re well known names but not very commonly used. We live abroad (so I may be out of touch with popular names!) a but planning to move home soon after baby 3 is born.

So what do you think?
Bonnie Francesca
Nancy Francesca
Eliza Francesca

Thank you!

I love it. Bonnie Francesca is lovely. Obviously depends a bit on the surname as long as it’s not an ‘eee’ at the end of your surname it sounds great. I only know of one Bonnie and she’s about 5 and also abroad. It’s cute.

Livingabroad12 · 27/05/2023 09:38

Thanks so much! Ooh good point. We have a short 2 syllable surname ending in d so I think we should be ok

They are all nice names, but I feel Bonnie and Francesca don't go together. They sound as though they are from different times or styles. Eliza Francesca is better imho.

LightDrizzle · 27/05/2023 09:49

Eliza 100%

Whatisityoucantface · 27/05/2023 09:51

Nancy is a lovely name imo

TheodoreMortlock · 27/05/2023 09:52

Bonnie Francesca sounds a bit like a folk song. The other two work well though.

SourDoughToast · 27/05/2023 09:57

I prefer the other 2 names tbh. Bonnie is too cutesy for me and sounds odd to essentially be naming a child 'pretty'.

Nancy is my favourite but Eliza is nice too. Both go great with Francesca as a mn.

NuffSaidSam · 27/05/2023 09:59

Bonnie Francesca sounds like a lassy called Francesca who was awful bonny in an old folk story.

Not sure of that's good or bad.

I like Nancy best, but they're all lovely names.

pinkfrog55 · 27/05/2023 10:02

All 3 are gorgeous! I think if I were forced to pick I’d go Nancy or Bonnie, but whichever you choose your daughter will have a beautiful name

Rightnowstraightaway · 27/05/2023 10:26

I love Bonnie Francesca and think it flows beautifully. Completely disagree with the pp who said they don't go!

I like Eliza Francesca the least because they both end in a.

DuchessOfSausage · 27/05/2023 10:31

Bonnie Francesca
Nancy Francesca
Eliza Francesca

Prefer Connie to Bonnie.
Nancy is great.
Not keen on Eliza.
Francesca as a middle name is OK.

Middle names aren't really used much.
I'd pick Nancy

user1492757084 · 27/05/2023 10:32

All are sweet names.

My favourite is
Bonnie Francesca 9/10
Nancy Francesca 8/10
Eliza Francesca 8/10

Do you like
Honor Francesca
Ellen Francesca

I’m wary of names that are positive attributes as it’s tough on the child if it’s not very apt. What if Bonnie’s not that bonnie? It could be a difficult name to bear.

PurpleChrayne · 27/05/2023 10:48

I love Bonnie Francesca. Eliza Francesca sounds wrong somehow.

continentallentil · 27/05/2023 14:03

I like Nancy best. Bonny is a bit baby for an adult.

Thequeenofwishfulthinking · 27/05/2023 14:08

I prefer Francesca as a first name actually. Otherwise I like Eliza Francesca the most.
Bonnie Francesca and Nancy Francesca sound like names from a town from the old Wild West to me.

Mischance · 27/05/2023 14:09

Bonnie Francesca is perfect!

ourflagmeansdeath · 27/05/2023 15:07

I really don't like Bonnie or Nancy. Bonnie just doesn't have a nice sound to me and Nancy seems old fashioned. Eliza Francesca is pretty though.

VeggieSausage · 27/05/2023 15:16

Prefer Nancy.

Eliza Francesca sounds odd as both end in a.

Bonnie I don't like as my Grandma used to say someone was bonnie meaning they were fat.

Jomummy1013 · 27/05/2023 15:17

I love Eliza Francesca, gorgeous! ❤️

Cantthinkofaname2203 · 27/05/2023 15:24

Bonnie to me is descriptive. As pp says it sounds like your child is called Francesca, who is bonnie- ie nice looking.

if you’re set on it you could go with a long name and use Bonnie as a diminutive. I think Bonnie Langford is Bonita, for example.

Gloschick · 27/05/2023 15:30

I agree. Bonita Francesca has a better ring to it, and gives her other options when she is older.

Anoana · 27/05/2023 15:44

Eliza and Nancy are lovely, Bonnie is dreadful.

Bloomtime · 27/05/2023 15:46

To me, it sounds like a girl called Francesca who was very bonnie. I am Scottish though.

I think Eliza is the nicest first name, however, I think Nancy goes better with Francesca.

PickledScrump · 27/05/2023 15:53

Bonnie is lovely. Middle names are rarely used so they don’t need to flow perfectly. That said I think Eliza Francesca does sound too clunky as they both end in an “a” sound. Bonnie is my favourite out of your choices.
