Pick your favourite and least favourite, please - name for our daughter

This is our list. We've worked on it quite a bit over the past couple of days and we'd like to know what you think.

We like retro-names, but you can be honest if you think they are not ready for a comeback. To us they already sound nice again.

Comment on all names are appreciated, but if you don't have much time just let us know your favourite and least favourite and tell us a bit about why you dislike or like the names.

My favourite is Mary. It's an absolute classic but totally not used anymore. Also like Mhari.

June is great. And Junie very cute nn.

Never been keen on Susan. Though it's defo due a come back.

Chloe is the nicest from your list.

Shirley makes me think of Shirley in Croydon.

Fave is Jane. I think Jane Beverly is lovely. If our son were a girl, Beverly would have been his middle name. I don’t like it as a first name though because I don’t like Bev.

Hope is my least favorite. I dislike virtue names.

Like Hope, dislike Luanna

The rest sound like a roll call of the 40 something women in my office. Not old enough to be vintage yet!

Like: Hope, Mary, May, Jane - all nice and classic.

Meh: Ava (v v popular now), Susan (still sounds v boomer-age), Chloe (bit 90s)

Ugh: Luana/Luanna (bit too Texas stripper name, sorry, you did ask!), Beverly (US boomer), Shirley (Aus boomer), June (UK boomer)

The boomer names just make me think of older ladies with perms and lots of chunky gold jewellery. Sorry! They’re the names of my mum’s friends (70+), and I just can’t see them as cute for a toddler or teenager.

Mary, however, is cute and not much used at all now, but is nice on a little girl or an older woman. Very much of the generation before the boomers, so starting to sound fresh again.

I like Mary, June and Hope. Dislike the others.

Luanna sounds brill love

I love May but probably wouldn’t have the balls to use it as a first name myself.
least favourite - Shirley, sorry but that’s terrible!

Ava - beautiful but feels a bit overdone. I love Ada though. Eve is also lovely, but similar to the very popular Eva / Evie. Vera?
Susan - feels a bit plain. I like Susanna more. Don't like Suzy or Sue. Suki?
May - pretty, but overdone as a middle name, which would put me off.
Luanna - dislike. Eloise? Luna?
Beverly - dear god no
Jane - plain
Shirley - meh, not that keen
June - actually quite like this one
Chloe - bit twee? Love Phoebe though.
Luana - as above
Mary - bit dull
Hope - not keen. Verity?

Other suggestions - Violet, Viola, Cora, Lucy, Daphne, Clementine, Hazel, Sybil, Tess, Faye

least favourite Susan or Luanna. However I do really like Susanna

Really dislike Shirley, Beverly and Jane. Not ready for a comeback yet for me. Susan not overly keen as I don't like Sue, but Suzanne is ok, nickname Anne/Annie?

Susan / the baby sounds 45
May - I like this one, sounds sweet
Luanna - pretty name but may be shortened to lulu
Beverly - the baby sounds 55

June - sounds like an OAP
Chloe - way too common
Luana - prefer this spelling go above
Mary - just no
Hope - there's always a sob story behind his name

So to me it's between Luana and May
