I don’t know any! London (toddler and preschooler aged kids)

RuthW · 08/05/2023 11:27

Loads of Islas from 40s to babies.

A couple of Adas.

Midlands

ListeningToZach · 08/05/2023 11:28

None under 3. I know an older Isla.

WineIsMyCarb · 08/05/2023 11:30

None, but plenty of Avas, Evas, Mias. Affluent Yorkshire Town.

Thequeenofwishfulthinking · 08/05/2023 11:31

Lots of Islas no Adas so far

threecupsofteaminimum · 08/05/2023 11:47

Lots of Isla's, no Ada's, which incidentally was my nan's name!

Arewehumanorarewecupboards · 08/05/2023 11:49

None of either under 3. In fact no Isla’s of any age and only one Ada who is in her 70’s.

HadEnoughOfBears · 08/05/2023 11:50

Lots of Islas across many ages but no Adas

Ciaonow · 08/05/2023 11:50

One Ada - 2 years old. Two Isla - 10 and 12 years old.

ManyRiversToCross · 08/05/2023 11:51

Ada much less common than Ava. 5 Avas in DD's year (year 8).

Isla had a big flash around the time DD was born or thereafter. Her primary class had an Isla and an Aiyla.

Climbingthelaundrymountain · 08/05/2023 11:52

2 Isla's and 2 Ada's in Oxfordshire. Age between 5 and 11.

Jojobees · 08/05/2023 11:52

Live in Buckinghamshire,
my sons nursery class ( 28 children) has 4 Islas and 2 Ada’s aged between 3 and 4.
I also know of 2 baby Islas born this year and an Ada born 2022.

Seems both are quite popular here.

champagneplanet · 08/05/2023 11:53

Lots of Isla's around DD1's age, shes 12. It was actually on my shortlist. It's less popular in the younger classes at school.

Only know one Ada, she's 5. We're NW based.

Vallmo47 · 08/05/2023 11:53

Isla is quite common but I couldn’t give you an exact figure. Ada I’ve never heard. Southwest

Hellocatshome · 08/05/2023 11:55

No Islas under 3 theybare all between 5 and 10. The only Ada I know is 101!

ItsCalledAConversation · 08/05/2023 11:55

Lots of Islas aged 10 and 11 (I can think of at least 4), none younger than that.

No Adas, plenty of Avas.

Coronationstation · 08/05/2023 12:11

I know Islas who are in their 30’s, 20’s, teens, primary age and pre school age! I live in Scotland though.
I only know one Ada and she’s about 11 and lives in England. But I don’t know many under 3’s as my friends and family are mostly beyond that age of having babies and toddlers now.

Littlegoth · 08/05/2023 12:47

Loads of Islas. Only one Ada, my Grandma, and she hated it. She would have been very bemused that it’s getting a revival.

Theoldwoman · 08/05/2023 12:50

No Ada’s. My great grandmother born in 1880 was Ada.

I know two Isla’s. One is 16, the other is 8 months.

drpet49 · 08/05/2023 12:54

No Islas, 2 Ada/ Ayda

TheFireflies · 08/05/2023 13:07

No Adas.

Absolutely loads of Islas from 17 to baby, both south coast England and in/around family in Scotland.

Baby names in England and Wales - Office for National Statistics (ons.gov.uk)

Scroll down to "Number and percentage of baby girls’ names by local authority, England and Wales, 2021"

Both are popular where I am, especially Isla.

Bear in mind that the stats only give the ones born in that year, but a school year straddles two years.
There may only be x Islas registered in my area in 2021, but the name will have been popular in other years too.

salamithumbs · 08/05/2023 13:24

None under 3. I know 2 Islas that are older, and no Adas at all!

Nursemumma92 · 08/05/2023 13:30

I know an Isla who is 6 and an Ailla who is 5.
I know an Ada who is 5 and my DD2 is Ada and she is 4 months old.

ourflagmeansdeath · 08/05/2023 14:05

I don't any under 3, but I know about 5 Isla's aged 10-15ish and no Ada's at all.
