Hi,

I'm expecting a baby girl in 3 weeks, after 2 boys.

I'm stuck between 2 names. Please help me decide.

Iris or Indie.

My boys are called Roman & River if that makes a difference. My surname is a common one.

Please help!

I love both. I have an Iris so I’m bias towards that, but both work with your boys names.

Indie does feel more a shortening of India/Indiana to me so for that reason I’d say Iris.

Iona would be nice too

user1492757084 · 04/05/2023 11:24

Iris, I prefer.

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 04/05/2023 11:25

Prefer Indie but would potentially go for India, Indiana, indigo or Indira as the full name (my preference would be Indiana or India)

Sofiatheworst · 04/05/2023 11:34

Oh I love both and both are on my list for a future dd. Although I would have India with Indie as a shortening. The only thing that puts me off iris slightly is that there isn’t a natural shortening and I’m one of those people who likes to shorten and lengthen names.

Iris

DuchessOfSausage · 04/05/2023 13:28

Iris.
Indie doesn't seem to be a name, and India, Indiana and Indigo are not to my taste.

PollyAmour · 04/05/2023 13:30

Iris is a lovely name and a very beautiful flower. Congratulations!

sunshineandmango · 04/05/2023 14:33

Seem to be going against the grain but I prefer Indie with your boys names, think it complements them beautifully. Both lovely though :)

DucksNewburyport · 04/05/2023 14:33

Iris

ludge · 04/05/2023 14:36

Love both names but I feel that Indie goes better with her brothers names.

ShoesoftheWorld · 04/05/2023 14:59

Iris, by miles.

LulooLemon · 04/05/2023 15:02

Iris on bc, nn Indie

momtoboys · 04/05/2023 15:02

I think with male names like Roman and River you really have to go with Indie.

Agreed

In years to come she will ask why didn't I get a cool unusual name like my brothers.

Springbuds38 · 04/05/2023 15:06

Iris is a lovely name and classic/will age well and suit any age

There were over twice as many Romans born than Iris in 2021. Iris doesn’t sound incongruous with the boys’ names and if she’s asking why her name is different, surely the obvious question is why it doesn’t also start with an R.

hlc123 · 04/05/2023 15:18

I love both but think Indie sounds better with your boys names

AGailInMyPants · 04/05/2023 15:21

Iris. Indie just makes me think of indie music.

Skybluepinky · 04/05/2023 15:23

Iris, Indie just reminds me of the girl who everything went wrong for in Home and Away.

miniaturepixieonacid · 04/05/2023 16:57

I love Iris.

I do know a sibling set of 2 boys then a girl where the boys have names very similar to yours and the girl is Indie though. They do seem to 'go' well.

So, either. (I'm unhelpful!)

katiefg · 04/05/2023 17:03

Indie I love and also think goes best with siblings names

justmyluck1234 · 04/05/2023 17:17

I prefer indie

sandrene · 04/05/2023 17:18

Definitely Iris!!! Much classier. She will thank you in the future I'm sure.

EatTheDamnCake · 04/05/2023 17:24
