What nicknames do your Heidis have?

It doesn't need one.
Adelheid is where Heidi comes from so it is already a nn

Garman · 30/04/2023 18:01

It's surely too short a name to need a nickname?

Chersfrozenface · 30/04/2023 18:03

Was going to say Heidi is already a nickname for Adelheid (origin of Adelaide).

Was beaten to it.

mintich · 30/04/2023 18:15

A Heidi I know gets called Heids but it's too short really for a nickname

raspberrymeringue · 30/04/2023 18:17

My friend Heidi gets called H.

Justathrowawaycomment · 30/04/2023 18:18

I call my friend Heidi, Heidi-Hi and have for about 30 years. She seems okay with it 😂😂 (we're both ~40 for context).

Zola1 · 30/04/2023 18:19

I've a friend Heidi, she gets Heid, Hi, and Heidi hoe. The last one might put you off naming a baby it.

Loria · 30/04/2023 18:21

Hiya

AldiLamp · 30/04/2023 18:24

I’m a Heidi, I used to get Heidi Hi all the time, but people tend not to understand it now.
Most people call me Heidi, one or two call me Heids.

scoopoftheday · 30/04/2023 18:26

I worked with a Didi, it was years before I knew her name was Heidi.

CurlsLDN · 30/04/2023 18:29

From personal experience, Heidi doesn’t tend to get shortened at all. Occasionally people try ‘heids’ and get a glare.
more often ‘funny’ men (always men) lengthen it to Heidi hi

APurpleSquirrel · 30/04/2023 18:39

I'm a Heidi too - at school friends tried Hidi but it didn't really stick. Tbh it's just to short to shorten much further & doesn't lend itself to nn's.
I too got called Heidi-Hi - mostly by 'funny' older men 🙄 Or asked where my goats were. Doesn't really apply as much any more thankfully.

pancakesandpepsi · 30/04/2023 19:05

The only Heidi I know gets called Heids most of the time by friends.
Out of interest (as Heidi is a forerunner on our list) do the Heidi’s who have commented on this thread like their name? I think it’s beautiful but interesting to hear personal experience. I can imagine the ‘Heidi-hi’ thing must have gotten frustrating!

ourflagmeansdeath · 30/04/2023 19:14

Dee?? Agree that it really doesn't need a nickname though

anunlikelyseahorse · 30/04/2023 19:21

Don't nicknames just sort of come into being? Both dc have NN but have no resemblance to their actual names.

Nimbostratus100 · 30/04/2023 19:23

Heidi is a nick name

FayCarew · 30/04/2023 19:25

Hides/Heids

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 30/04/2023 19:42

Heids/Heidster I suppose.

She may very well end up with something completely unrelated...

Good God Heidster? Wtf?

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 30/04/2023 20:19

It is somewhat unfortunate. But I would not be surprised to encounter it, no...

I always think this when I see people say x name with y nickname.

Nicknames come into being over a period of time. Both my kids have nicknames nothing to do with their names, one occasionally is called a nickname from her name but its mainly the 1 nickname that no one else would know what their real name was.

BinkyBeaufort · 30/04/2023 20:47

The Heidi I know is called Hides. Poor thing.

Heatherbell1978 · 30/04/2023 20:50

I called her Heidi as it doesn't have a nickname! I don't really like names that people immediately change. That said she's 'H' now and again.

GhostBridezilla · 30/04/2023 20:56

We tend to go longer with shorter names eg Heidi-pops, Heidi-boo, Heidi-Beidi.

Her little sister calls her DeeDee.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 30/04/2023 20:57

Dee Dee?
