Nina - how many do you know

How many Ninas do you know, how old are they and is their name shortened from a longer name?

I think the name uncommon, my husband thinks they are everywhere, I think it’s timeless, he thinks it’s recently resurged, I think it’s fine on its own, he thinks it’s always a diminutive of something longer.

It's a lovely name OP! I only know one and she is about 45. Go for it!

Missmiller · 29/04/2023 07:41

I know two.

one is a dog
One is a 42 year old.

JD90 · 29/04/2023 07:43

3, 1 is a woman in her 40s, 2 pets.

Newusername123456 · 29/04/2023 07:45

It’s a beautiful name! I know 3 Nina’s (all in their 30-40s) and all just Nina. Go for it OP

CrunchyCarrot · 29/04/2023 07:45

I know one, mid-40s. Her name is shortened from another longer name, sounds nothing like Nina!

lindauk5 · 29/04/2023 07:47

I know 1 she's 9.

astarsheis · 29/04/2023 07:48

I know one...It's a gorgeous name. Go for it.

Decisionfatiguequeen · 29/04/2023 07:48

I know a woman who is 43, a woman in her 60s and a girl who is around 6 - all Ninas, not shortened. I don't think its common but isn't out there unusual...

Whatwouldnanado · 29/04/2023 07:49

Two, both in their 40s. Gorgeous name due for a revival. Go for it.

Jellyheadbang · 29/04/2023 07:51

I know lots of Ninas. Feels like a weird baby name to me just because all the ones I know are women my age.
It's pretty though

AgnesGray · 29/04/2023 07:52

I've only come across a few in my life. I work in schools but I know two when I was at school, so think it's actually quite timeless and non-trendy. In my day it was short for Christina

ChocolateBauble · 29/04/2023 07:56

1 in their 40s
and also the 1 on Corrie

Celticdawn5 · 29/04/2023 07:57

I know a Nina: 10 months old.
a lovely name.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 29/04/2023 08:00

One, one year old. She’s delightful!

We wanted to use Nina but I couldn’t get “nee-naaw” out of my head, so we didn’t. But I still think it’s gorgeous.

Londoncatshed · 29/04/2023 08:00

Only 1, in her forties. Lovely name. Timeless. Not come across any in school.

CarrotSoupwithCheese · 29/04/2023 08:02

2, aged 6 and 8

HouseofHolbein · 29/04/2023 08:03

2 in their 50's and one in her 30's. One was vile the other 2 are lovely.

MrsSamR · 29/04/2023 08:09

My friend actually named her baby Nina the year before last so she's now 1. I remember thinking at the time it was a name I hadn't heard in a while!

Merrow · 29/04/2023 08:10

2 - one must be in her 70s now and the other is 6. Both their full name.

17caterpillars1mouse · 29/04/2023 08:31

I know 3

1 in her 50s, 1 late 30s and a 1 year old

Wallywobbles · 29/04/2023 09:22

I have one. She knows 7.

salamithumbs · 29/04/2023 09:31

I know three, two are just called Nina and they're 8 and 40ish I think.. the other is 15 and it's short for Maria Francesca ... not sure whether the Nina part came from but there you go! She's Italian, the other two are Irish.

ChrissyHynde · 29/04/2023 09:35

I know one , she's about 13. I love the name

Nimbostratus100 · 29/04/2023 09:42

I knew a few, but they only used the name as babies and toddlers. To me it is a baby name, like "Johnny" for John, and ""Billy" or "Willsy" for william. It is n't a name an adult uses.

They are Georgina, Martina, etc, and either use their full names, or a less babyish nick name as an adult. "Gina" "Geen" "Marta" "Tina" etc

Spring2008 · 29/04/2023 10:25

I'm wracking my brains, but I honestly don't think I've ever met one in person.
Only in books or on television.
