Hi,

I have a daughter -and we will move UK soon. My daughers name is Demi- actually we love her name, she loves it too. its lovely name where we live but I am worrying that she might get bullied when we move to UK because its not a common name in UK.

Please share what you thing about this.
Am I over thinking?

I live in the UK and I think that's a beautiful name.

firsttimemum1230 · 25/04/2023 23:49

I had a friend at school named Demi here in the uk it’s lovely

WilsonandNoodles · 25/04/2023 23:49

We have a Demi at our small village school. Not seen as anything strange.

WestOfWestminster · 25/04/2023 23:49

I'm 50/50 on this one.

Only kidding, its a lovely name. Lots of people with uncommon names around here, its nice to go with something unusual.

Good luck with your move

fairycupcakes · 25/04/2023 23:50

Why would you think she’d get bullied for the name? There is nothing wrong with the name Demi, it’s lovely!
Good luck on your move x

Aquamarine1029 · 25/04/2023 23:50

You have nothing to worry about.

Scutterbug · 25/04/2023 23:50

I know 2 Demis, she will be fine x

ArnoldBee · 25/04/2023 23:51

It was quite popular here when Demi Moore became mainstream.

Pieceofpurplesky · 25/04/2023 23:52

It's not uncommon

ChunkyCheese · 25/04/2023 23:53

I have known a few girls called Demi over the years, it’s not a common name, but it is also not uncommon. I don’t find it very unusual.

HollyGolightly4 · 25/04/2023 23:53

Taught loads of Demi's - she'll be fine !

DiscoBeat · 25/04/2023 23:58

I'm 50/50 on this one.
🤣

Kittykatchunjy · 25/04/2023 23:58

Why would she get bullied it's a perfectly nice name

Ilovetea42 · 25/04/2023 23:59

I work with young people and have worked with a number of Demi's now. I wouldn't say its that unpopular.

DinaofCloud9 · 26/04/2023 00:04

Demi isn't uncommon.

Longdarkcloud · 26/04/2023 00:20

I understand that Demi isa relatively new name— Demi Moore claims her mother actually made the name up because she liked French sounding names. However she’s now approaching elderly so the names been around long enough for people to have become used to it.
Ive never heard any criticism of the name so you have nothing to worry about.
I hope you find your adjustment to living here easy.

Sleepyandconfused · 26/04/2023 01:00

Demi isn’t especially rare?

Floralnomad · 26/04/2023 01:36

Nothing controversial about Demi .

DuchessOfSausage · 26/04/2023 09:12

I know 2.

Jellytotsburnmytongue · 26/04/2023 09:21

I've met a few people called Demi. She will be ok, it's not too unusual 🙂

SophiaSW1 · 26/04/2023 09:30

It's not unusual in the uk, just a bit dated. Most I have heard of are teens

Nachobowls · 26/04/2023 09:30

I know a Demi, she’s almost 30, didn’t think it was unusual?

RuthW · 26/04/2023 12:21

Demi is a perfectly normal name in the UK

Krustykrabpizza · 26/04/2023 12:22

It is not unusual in the UK

Kanaloa · 26/04/2023 12:24

It’s not super common like Ellie or Amelia bit I wouldn’t say it’s crazy unusual or out there either. Nobody would be saying ‘Demi, what kind of name is that, I’ve never heard that.’ Most people would have heard the name before.
