Matthew!

LilacSloth · 13/04/2023 21:06

Definitely Matthew - it's a lovely name.

Anonymouslyembarassed · 13/04/2023 21:07

Matthew. Classic name.

TommyLeeRoycesTinyArsePhone · 13/04/2023 21:09

Matthew! Michael is a bit more tricky with which order the A and E go in.

Matthew is classic and underused and lovely. We wanted it for DS1 but knew we wanted Hugh for a middle name.

Against the grain here by the looks of thinks but I like Michael and all its diminutive- very useful. I think it's used less often than Matthew in current times- I'm a teacher (not in a school) and come across 500 kids a week aging from 0- 18 and been teaching for 27 years so believe my theory to be correct 😊

I love Matthew. Michael is nice and refreshing too.

Luredbyapomegranate · 13/04/2023 21:16

Michael - very underused these days

PinkPlantCase · 13/04/2023 21:21

Not Matthew, very 80s/90s

MerylSqueak · 13/04/2023 21:27

Michael by a mile

Growlybear83 · 13/04/2023 21:27

I prefer Michael.

Matthew

MsFrog · 13/04/2023 21:35

I'd go with Michael. I have a 2 year old Michael and I love it. As PP said, very rare these days, but I think a lovely, classic name.

Derrymum123 · 13/04/2023 21:36

Michael is much nicer. Both are classic though.
Love Mickey & Mikey as nn.

CandyflossKid · 13/04/2023 21:37

I love the name Michael. Nn Mikey.

theysaiditgetseasier · 13/04/2023 21:37

Micheal 100%
Always dislike Matthew especially nn Matt

Magnoliasky · 13/04/2023 21:39

Matthew

Funnyfive · 13/04/2023 21:39

I seriously considered Michael for my son when he was born nearly 20 years ago, I was going to call him Mikey out of the Goonies. Matthew was also on the list as I liked Matty as a nn. In the end we called him Noah, very rare then, not so rare now!

SparkyBlue · 13/04/2023 21:41

Both are lovely classic names. I'd personally prefer Michael.

escplc · 13/04/2023 21:45

Matthew.

We have a Matthew. He fits his name so very well. It means "Gift of God" and it's truly fitting for him.

It's certainly a while down the line yet but husband is an engineer and I can't help but think that Matthew is an appropriate and potentially laid back name (if ever shortened to Matt which we also love) to follow in his fathers' footsteps!

LivingNextDoorToNorma · 13/04/2023 21:47

I love Michael. One of my favourites.

Goodfuckingriddance · 13/04/2023 21:53

Matthew ❤️ so much so I named my boy it.

wellhi · 13/04/2023 21:56

Really like Michael. Cute nickname options when young and I've never met an adult Mike that I didn't like.

Matthew is fine. I just find it a bit wet.
