How many Evies do you know?!

So grateful for all the responses on my previous thread.
To further this - and hopefully help to narrow things down further for us - I wanted to ask specifically how any Evies do you know? If you’re happy to share your region (north, south etc) that would be great.
Thanks so much to those who already answered this as part of my previous thread!

Thanks in advance!

I know a 12 year old one. Also had one in my class years ago who must be about 30 now. Both lovely kids.

BettyBoopy · 13/04/2023 22:10

I'm a teacher, there's 1 or 2 in almost every class in the school. Not as common as Layla or Charlie though... there are 3 Charlie's and 6 (yes 6!!) Laylas in one class alone. North West UK

mastertomsmum · 13/04/2023 22:13

There have been about 5 we have known in DC’s age group Yr 12

23Alabla · 13/04/2023 22:23

I know one, Jnrs (from c70 this age). Feisty, kind, beautiful, tomboy type :)

SoShallINever · 13/04/2023 22:23

4, all under 6.

Curlyshabtree · 13/04/2023 22:28

1 aged 92

Forgooodnesssakenow · 13/04/2023 22:30

3 between 1 and 5 in Glasgow

SophiaSW1 · 13/04/2023 22:43

3 children

specialTea · 13/04/2023 23:06

Omg so many in London
Guess around 20
I'm not a teacher
In every girl group there is: Isabell/a, olive or Olivia, the Mia maya maia

Then the eve evie 'only known as Evelyn' Evie-rose evie-may , Aoife , the Indian version of it aveea (?) so 2010. Then the Ada versions that followed (yawn)

Why do people use this name so much? It's just a limp nothingy girly sound that sounds like a whine 'eeee veeee' Horrible

Seems to be moving into harder vowel names round here - several Clara Zara Lara Margot Margaret type names now

kwetu · 13/04/2023 23:14

I know 3 humans and several dogs by that name.

Hmcs · 13/04/2023 23:21

5 that I can think of a 13 year old, 5 year old, 2x 17 year olds and a 22 year old
south east

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 13/04/2023 23:26

About fifteen off the top of my head, ages 3-17.

You do need to account for the Evie-adjacent names. I have mentioned this before on this board but my DD was in an infants class a few years ago with:

Eva (evva)
Eva (eeva)
Evie
Evelyn
Aoife
and a boy called Evan.

That’s a lot of near-homophones and homographs in a busy classroom.

anon90210 · 13/04/2023 23:35
  1. One teen, one 11 year old, one about 3 and a newborn.
downtonupton · 13/04/2023 23:56

London: two Evies - aged 20 & 5

I know 3x Eva all early/mid teens 13-16

mg2397 · 14/04/2023 06:22

I'm up north, in a nursery nurse, w we get at least 1-2 in each year group, it's very popular.

cptartapp · 14/04/2023 06:43

I run a baby clinic. There's one every time.
Weak, infantile name.

You sound nice :/

CatsAddictedToDreamies · 14/04/2023 07:35

Names tend to be popular because they are lovely names.

I certainly hope you are able to hide your contempt in the baby clinic @cptartapp

HVPRN · 14/04/2023 07:36

@Meandfour haha I just read that comment too.. Something Ursula from LM would say 🤪

My daughter is Evangeline, aged 15y. We abbreviate to Eva, however she is happy to use her full name, I think she prefers using it, especially as there are a few Evie's, Evelyn's, & 1 other Eva that she has encountered over the years.

AgnesGray · 14/04/2023 07:43

I have met a lot (I work in a school), but I only actually know two properly outside work. One is preschool age and the other is 7 or 8. I'm in the SE England

Thirdsummerofourdiscontent · 14/04/2023 07:52

12 they are 10 and 17

saltwater1985 · 14/04/2023 08:09

3 Evie's and a handful of Evas
One adult Eve

namechange2344 · 14/04/2023 08:31

Name changed to comment on this as incredibly outing. I have an Evee. Ever since I watched the mummy as a little girl, I wanted to call my daughter Evie. I wasn't sure whether I would use Evie as a full name or something longer and shorten.

In the year I got pregnant everyone was calling their girls Evie and I hate the idea of a popular name as I have one and was one of 3/4 in a very small class but my name is spelt differently so ok if you write it down. I also hated this as I constantly have to spell it to people and repeat as they always switch letters about.

Anyway, long story short she became Evee because DP is a Pokémon lover and it means it had the same ending as my name. It was DPs "fault" that she was spelt this way and I hated him for a good week because of it but actually it's great.

We make joke about her temper making her a flareon and when she is caught in the rain she will become a VaporeRon. It's the name that keeps on giving. Some of her friends call her Eve.

Carsarelife · 14/04/2023 08:40

About 50. Ok I'm exaggerating but feels like 50. I've started to hate the name

Why didn't you go with Eevee?
