These spellings.. no alternatives thank you.
What's your favourite please?

CheeseMcKnees · 07/04/2023 22:56

How is the first one pronounced?

storyofus · 07/04/2023 22:57

The same as Ivy x

Ivie is the name of some smart app for monitoring Energy usage. If that bothers you.

CheeseMcKnees · 07/04/2023 22:59

Ivy? Ivie? Hard no. May as well call her IV and hope she doesn’t become a doctor.

Wolfiefan · 07/04/2023 22:59

It’s Ivy. So no to a weird spelling.

atthebottomofthehill · 07/04/2023 23:00

Must be a troll post with those spellings 😂 good one OP. I prefer Esmé, at least it's a recognised spelling 🙃

Luredbyapomegranate · 07/04/2023 23:00

Esme

I’d prefer Ivy without the daft spelling

RhubarbFairy · 07/04/2023 23:00

Esme. As you've butchered Ivy with that spelling. Both are pretty names, but she's in for a lifetime of having it spelt wrong if you change it to 'Ivie'.

PickledScrump · 07/04/2023 23:01

Are you saying Esmé like es-may or es-me?
Out if the two Ivy is a better name, but spell it properly, don’t cheapen a lovely name.

Topee · 07/04/2023 23:01

Esme

shoopshoopdedoo · 07/04/2023 23:23

Esme

noimaginationforausername · 07/04/2023 23:31

Esme if you're going to spell Ivy like that!

atthebottomofthehill · 07/04/2023 23:32

Well she's written Esmé not Esme so presumably she wants the Es-may pronunciation?

DarkDarkNight · 07/04/2023 23:38

Esme so people won’t roll their eyes at your spelling of Ivy, because they will.

cocksstrideintheevening · 07/04/2023 23:41

Ivy. Why would you make a wanky spelling?

ReadersD1gest · 07/04/2023 23:42

storyofus · 07/04/2023 22:57

The same as Ivy x

Lovely name, completely ridiculous spelling.

ErikaReadsTheDailyMail · 07/04/2023 23:45

I would assume it was Eye-vie (both to rhyme with sigh) if it was spelled that way, otherwise it woukd be spelled properly.

Please remember you are naming a person not a pet- they will have to spell and explain it over and over through their life.

TooOldForThisNonsense · 07/04/2023 23:48

noimaginationforausername · 07/04/2023 23:31

Esme if you're going to spell Ivy like that!

This

Ivie is terrible, sorry

Puppyseahorse · 07/04/2023 23:50

If I read Ivie I’d think it was a weird spelling of Evie. Or maybe a typo

So yes, Esmé - as long as you’re pronouncing it Es-may, which is how it’s spelled.

Viviennemary · 07/04/2023 23:51

Ivie. It isnt a name AFAIK
Esme its ok but not overkeen. Nobody's going to be able to cope with the accent unless they did French at school. I can't even find it on my keyboard.

ReadersD1gest · 07/04/2023 23:52

Ivie makes it look like you struggle with basic literacy, rather than yooneek.

Stichintime · 07/04/2023 23:53

What about I'vee or Esmay?

OliviaFlaversham · 07/04/2023 23:56

I’d choose Esmé.

When I read Ivie I thought it would be pronounced Eye - Vye as not seen it before and wouldn’t have thought of it as an alternative spelling of Ivy (which I really like).

Barleysugar86 · 08/04/2023 00:00

Both bad sorry OP. Ivy or Esme are great but those spellings are going to haunt your kid, I think they'd really struggle to have to type their name with an accent all the time and I'm sure some official forms would make it impossible. Ivie... just looks like a spelling mistake.

JamSandle · 08/04/2023 00:01

Ivie
