There was a thread like this a few years ago - I looked for it and couldn’t find it - so I thought I’d start another!

Mine is Rafferty. Loved it. DH vetoed.

Rafferty wasn't a name you 'weren't quite brave enough to use' it was a name that you and your DH didn't agree on.

Mine is Francis, I love it but people saying it is wet and feminine is currently swaying my decision

MakeMineADouble81 · 04/04/2023 09:22

I always liked the name Hunter. If I was American my son would have been called this istead of his very run of the mill name 😂

Alistair
Bunty
Claude

Caspian
Atticus
Dmitri
Etienne

Love the names but no very 'us', and I'm not a fan of using names from cultures that we have no links to. In reality, all my DC have very short names than can't really be shortened further so wouldn't 'go' together anyway.

shoopshoopdedoo · 04/04/2023 09:29

Ignore people! It’s so hard to find a name you love, so if you love it (especially when it’s such a classic name) then go for it. You’ll never find a name that everyone likes!

Meandfour · 04/04/2023 09:30

Zephan. Absolutely love this name but didn’t fit with our other children’s names at all. Will always love it.

Bitingspaniel · 04/04/2023 09:33

Horatio. Honestly! But would never.

Merrow · 04/04/2023 09:33

Magnus and Zelda, both vetoed by DP. I would have pushed hard for Zelda if we had a DD, but did think that Magnus might be a bit much. Now that DS2 is here I think he could have pulled it off, but I like the name we agreed on too!

Like someone upthread I wanted Claude for my secondborn but DH wouldn’t be persuaded

DarlingG · 04/04/2023 12:56

Ari here too

WildAloofRebel · 04/04/2023 13:04

Ambrose

Omari and Israel, both of which I absolutely love but would be preposterous with our genes.

Quinque · 04/04/2023 13:06

Diggory.
I read Return of the Native while pregnant.

Overthinkingnotdrinking · 04/04/2023 13:06

Yves. Just imagining a boy explaining he’s not called eve for the rest of his life. Used it for one day in hospital but then went for something a bit less complicated.

RecklessBlackberries · 04/04/2023 13:10

Felix. I know it's actually quite popular these days, but I can't shake the cat food association and it just feels like a silly name to me.

Also Jasper. Again, quite popular but just feels very not us. Too posh, too feminine and too out of place among our friends.
