There was a thread like this a few years ago - I looked for it and couldn’t find it - so I thought I’d start another!

Mine is Rafferty. Loved it. DH vetoed.

Magnus
Jesse
Cash
Bjorn
Henrik
Colm (still love this to this day)
Ralph/ Raife

loved them all but we decided on a very classic, English name in the end

Cashel - deep lake in Eire

Magnus and Zelda, both vetoed by DP. I would have pushed hard for Zelda if we had a DD, but did think that Magnus might be a bit much. Now that DS2 is here I think he could have pulled it off, but I like the name we agreed on too!

I know siblings who are Magnus and Zelda! Awesome names and they pull them off beautifully!

SilhouettesOnTheShade · 04/04/2023 14:56

Dh and I agreed on Frederick. I chickened out knowing my family wouldn't like it and think of Freddy Krueger 😬

I actually prefer what we ended up going with anyway!

Lovelyring · 04/04/2023 15:01

Loads!

Athos
Esteban (I'm not Spanish)
Hilary for a boy
Aslan (I'm not Turkish)
Capability
Sirius
Vangelis (I'm not Greek)

Calypso
Zerelda
Bunty was on my list too! Didn't even bother suggesting it to DH though.
Chava (I'm not Jewish and everyone I know would have just seen Chav)
Petrova
Roxanne

RoseMarigoldViolet · 04/04/2023 15:06

Spike
Mungo
Kip
Kit
Hector

ComeOnNumber100 · 04/04/2023 15:10

Titus DH vetoed it.
We agreed on Charlie, the most conventional name ever, which I love and suits him.

ourflagmeansdeath · 04/04/2023 19:28

August
Cassius
Casper

Ended up going for Alexander 😁

Ha, their mother must be my braver alter ego! Glad to know such a version of me exists in the universe.

Rafferty wasn't a name you 'weren't quite brave enough to use' it was a name that you and your DH didn't agree on.

Tbh - both! DH didn’t like it but said if I loved it, we could use it. I wasn’t brave enough to choose for the both of us! Especially after MIL also said she did not like. Wish I’d gone for it - not so much for the name, but for the sticking to what I wanted iyswim.

Rafal
Gabriel
Kazimierz

Vetoed but still love the names. Kazim veto was prob for the best though as we stayed in the U.K.

Kentlassie · 04/04/2023 19:41

Mine was Rafferty too. I loved it, DH said it’s a dog name which ruined it for me.

LuckyMoonstone · 04/04/2023 19:42

Paris. DH won’t let me.

Lollypop701 · 04/04/2023 20:15

Malakai … husband wouldn’t have it …. Just as well second one was a girl, although we couldn’t agree then either ….

specialklady · 04/04/2023 20:29

Fraser and Barty (Bartholomew)

Mossstitch · 04/04/2023 21:09

Nathaniel..... But talking over 30 years ago when names in fashion were more like Thomas, Matthew ect.

AnnaBlush · 04/04/2023 21:18

@NEC2678 are you still making your decision?
I kinda agree with the suggestion - but Francis is so sweet
And it can be altered to Frank/ Frankie

Epicstorm · 04/04/2023 21:34

Nothing brave about using Leo. I don’t like it but that’s just personal taste.

I think of storm as a girls name not a boys.

feliciabirthgiver · 04/04/2023 21:38

Willoughby

Fudgewomble · 04/04/2023 21:38

My DS is at school with a Horatio, Rupert, Raef and Casper (and a few more of the names mentioned but my pea brain cant hold it in).

I really liked Murdo but I felt I wasn’t Scottish enough to pull it off.

paulinesmithson · 04/04/2023 21:42

ben. we loved it but it was quite out there a bit too brave for us

Springingintosummer · 04/04/2023 21:44

Gertrude ( yes, love it and family name) - not brave enough

Nathaniel
Bartholomew
Simeon ( really regret not using this one)

Sailawaygirl · 04/04/2023 21:52

I'm welsh but currently live in England. Would love
Bramwell
llewellyn

Also
Lettice for a girl. But sadly no

Mimilamore · 04/04/2023 21:54

Dogs don't have the patent for names nor do bloody cats... they are NAMES up for grabs. Follow your heart, if you love it. Also worked in a school for years, nobody was bullied for their name, kids don't give a flying because they are not frightened of what others think, they learn that from adults later on. Some wonderful names not used in the list 😕

CountingMareep · 04/04/2023 21:54

Amadeus. Love the name but it doesn’t suit anything at all about our family.

For my DD I also briefly considered Juliet and Marianne. Perfectly lovely names but they somehow weren’t right.
