Hi

Looking for inspiration on -Elle- names. We’re not sure if Elle is a bit unsubstantial on its own but love the nickname.
Come across some unusual ones on here recently such as Arielle which we’ve never heard before so wondered if there are any more we may not have thought of?!
Current forerunner is probably Elodie.

TIA!

Nb: aware many mumsnetters are not fans of Elle due to popularity but this doesn’t matter to us :)

Elle is fine if you like it but I remember a girl called Eloise in the 80s unusual then, liked it a lot!

Whatdayisitalexa · 02/04/2023 17:55

Thinking about It was Elise...still a 👍

Luredbyapomegranate · 02/04/2023 17:55

Does it have to be Elle not Ella for the full name?

If not -

Estella
Abriella
Gabriella
Fenella
Mariella

I’d avoid Mirabelle, it always makes me think of cheese.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! We do seem to prefer the -Elle to the -Ella sounds.
Elise is nice and quite unusual, one to ponder on!

I would say Elise or Eloise. I had both those names on my list with nn Elle. Husband vetoed them though annoyingly

MoonOverBroadway · 02/04/2023 20:40

I like Elle as a stand-alone name. But also like:

Gabrielle
Giselle
Joelle
Estelle
Elodie
Elise

Easy to say, spell and shorten to Elle! I thought it sounded classy at the time, and it still does I think. The only connotation I can think of is the sports car, but I'm thinking the Lotus Elise was named after a girl...like Mercedes but different in as much it was a model not a whole brand

Some nice choices, but also anything beginning with L could have it as a nickname.

I do like Elle/Ella by itself, too.
