Kaia or Kiera?

Which name do you prefer, Kaia or Kiera?

We pronounce them ky-a and keer-a.

We also like these spellings:

Kaya
Keira
Kira

Which name and spelling is best?

I’d spell these Kaya and Keira

I've just read it as Kay ya... especially the 2nd spelling. I'm aware of the pronunciation of Kiera Knightly though. I think it's more of a generation thing when people don't automatically get the spelling and pronunciation of unfamiliar names especially when said with a foreign accent. I was born in the 60s there were a lot of Susan's Tracey's and Karen's at school and it did make things easier in that respect. Having said that, in my class, there was an Eleanor who was referred to both as e len or and El ay na by different teachers and a Leonie who we called Leo ny but one teacher insisted on calling her Lay o nie! I think with a lot of names you get introduced as it sounds, and spelling could be controversial. Tracy or Tracey? Clare or Claire? Karen or Caron? Anyone???

I love Kaia. Its pretty and it's relatively uncommon.
I don't like Keira as its awful with some accents (particularly mine!)I do think you'd get Ky-rah for Kira though

I get a Teen Mom vibe from Kiya/Kiah/Kya and also yeah the whole is it pronounced Kia/Kaya etc would be annoying...

Agreed...I'd see ay Keira in my head..Kaia is you're best chance but you need to prepare to correct for those who read Kay ya..which isn't a bad name in itself! Tbh irl you get introduced to people socially and as long as you hear the name correctly you will be happily use it as it sounds. When it comes to it being written that's where it becomes a bit of a minefield potentially...but only if you let it. People close to that person know how it's said AND spelt but not 100% I have a dear friend who I've known for many decades who is dyslexic and continues to spell my name incorrectly despite the correct spelling being simpler, and being told..I'm not offended

I'm voting for either Kiera Keira if you want the correct pronunciation, but you may get either spelling 😉

Kaia but it does make me think of the model.
Not keen on Keira/Kiera/Ciara/Kira. Only the Ciara spelling looks nice, but I don't like the sound.

Kiera I’d say key-air-a, Keira would be Keer-a. I know of a Kaya said Ky-a but he’s a boy. Must be near 20s by now. I did think it was said Kay-a when I first saw it

I don't think it matters as they'll all get mispelt every now and then, it's a name with tons of variations. I do prefer the pronunciation Kya though.

The spelling is not the name.
The sound is the name.
The spelling is just a way of writing the sound down.
