Sorry all totally dull and lacklustre.

obesensitive · 24/03/2023 11:36

What if I had written

Neveah
Arabella
Elodie
Emily
Luciana

Would you think every one of them was dull too, or just Emily

Bunnyhascovidnoteggs · 24/03/2023 11:37

All wet and/or pretentious..

obesensitive · 24/03/2023 11:38

Damn. Do you have any suggestions of names that aren't wet or pretentious. I don't want my childs name to be wet or pretentious!

shakeitoffsis · 24/03/2023 11:46

Based on your other names
Lucia - a better version of Luciana

FayCarew · 24/03/2023 11:52

Anna
Emma
Alice
Annie
Emily

All 'safe', but not wet. Not mad about Emily but the othes are all nice.

Neveah - dreadful
Arabella - too long and frilly
Elodie - nothingy, just a long Ellie
Luciana - Lucy is nice, but I wouldn't know if Luciana was Lucy-anna, Lootchy-arna etc

obesensitive · 24/03/2023 11:52

Lucia is lovely. Bit off on an English girl? I think I prefer Lucy, lovely name.

These are just the immediate thoughts that come to my mind:

Anna- fine as a middle name
Emma- its ok
Alice- best from this list
Annie- I immediately think of the curly haired girl from the film/musical
Emily- also ok

I wasn't sure if you wanted comments on your other list?

Neveah-Not sure how to pronounce it? Like Nev-ea? Too close to the skin brand Nivea
Arabella- I always think of a horse- no idea why. Not keen on 4 syllable names which are a mouthful.
Elodie- Male surfer name
Emily- again, its ok
Luciana- Prefer Lucia, but its also ok

obesensitive · 24/03/2023 11:53

Thank you. Emily is my least favourite, DPs most.

For what its worth
Neveah
Arabella
Elodie
Luciana

Isn't a list of names I'm interested in

Anna is neither wet nor pretentious.

I prefer Lucy to Luciana. I think adding ana onto quite pleasant names sounds pretentious.

I like Emma and Emily but they are massively over-used.

Isla is pretty and a similar vibe to some of your choices.

Rinkydinkydoodle · 24/03/2023 11:58

Anna - Niice. This baby will become a woman of dignity and integrity😛

Emma - See Terry Pratchett’s ‘Interchangeable Emmas.’

Alice - pretty, prim. I have a 20 something second cousin called Alice and she feels it’s chronically unsexy.

Annie- Cool but not trying to be. Makes me think of this song.

Emily- hugely popular in my DS’s age (mid-teens) year group, maybe a little bit generic.

Ronnie Lane & Pete Townsend - Annie

I like Anna and Emma much better than any of the others. Alice is OK. Annie is a short for Anne or Anna. Emily is a bit bland.

MajorCarolDanvers · 24/03/2023 12:23

I love them all except Annie.

The rest are beautiful classics that have stood the test of time. You won't go wrong with any of them.

WideOpenSpaces · 24/03/2023 14:58

I think they're all beautiful OP

shoopshoopdedoo · 24/03/2023 15:24

I love them all, apart from Annie (still nice but I prefer the others. I agree that they are safe choices because they are classics, but I wouldn’t say that they were wet!

SophiaSW1 · 24/03/2023 16:01

Anna and Emma are great names!

NannyR · 24/03/2023 16:07

I love Anna and Emma, both well known names, not that commonly used for babies these days.

frayble · 24/03/2023 16:09

I like all the names on your list - I've a baby girl due in June and she will be called Alice.

Ciaonow · 24/03/2023 16:18

I like all your names. I think Annie would be better as a nickname for Annabel.

Twoinapod · 24/03/2023 17:38

Alice is lovely my favourite out of your list. The others are considered ‘classic’ but there will be many in the class.

HuggingtheHRT · 24/03/2023 18:51

I love Alice and Anna (using Annie as a nickname) Don't think dull or lacklustre at all. I think 'timeless and classy.'

ourflagmeansdeath · 24/03/2023 19:07

Anna - Think it's a classic, lovely
Emma - Beautiful, gorgeous, one of my favourite names
Alice - It's sweet but I can never get the A Lice thing out of my head!
Annie - Lovely as a nickname for Anna
Emily - Prefer Emma, but it's okay

Nevaeh - I must be the only one who likes this name and how it sounds but do agree the backwards spelling is tacky and like saying your child is hell!
Arabella - Frilly but I have a soft spot because of the song!
Elodie - Beautiful imo
Luciana - Quite nice! Prefer Lucy/Lucia though.

I think they're all absolutely lovely or fine names OP. My favourites are Emma and Elodie.

ourflagmeansdeath · 24/03/2023 19:09

Sorry didn't see the thing about the second list of names being ones you didn't like!! For the top list, Emma for sure.

namechange1230 · 24/03/2023 22:17

Emma was a very popular name when I was young but I think it's less common nowadays. My youngest is an Emma and she's the only one in her school.

YukoandHiro · 24/03/2023 22:20

All very 90s
