Thoughts on Max McCann

My DH and I have found out we are having a little boy, we cannot agree on a name. I wanted something more traditional my DH is siding towards unusual as our surname is McCann. He loves the name Maximillian McCann, but realistically the name will be shortened to Max, which I am not 100% keen on, my question, does Max McCann sound like a ridiculous name? do the first and surname sound too similar? I also like Jenson/Jensen and interested to know your thoughts?

Sorry it sounds like a secret agent in a Disney+ series.

Max is better than Jenson but I don't think either flow. Only one and your DH have to like it though

If he wants something unusual, Max (which is almost inevitable from Maximilian) isn’t it. Only counting Max as a stand-alone name it’s been in the top 50 in England and Wales since the turn of the millennium and though it’s been on a downward trend since 2012, it’s still ranked 34th. Adding together all the Max- names the name at 21st. Maximilian is also the most used spelling.

Maybe it’s the alliteration but Max McCann brings to mind Madeleine McCann.

Jensen does not sound attractive with McCann to my ears.

Max McCann sounds very handsome, even with the M&M.
I really like it.
Others ..

Christopher McCann Chris McCann

I love how Max McCann sounds! It's a name that will work for all ages too which I always think's really important.
Cute as a little one, cool as a teen, sensible enough as an adult and still nice and respectable as an old man. It's good!
I prefer it to Jensen. As nice as Jensen is it just doesn't sound as nice as Max with the surname (in my view, obviously it's nobody else's business in the long run) Smile

Sorry it sounds like a secret agent in a Disney+ series.

That's exactly why I like it.

Finn McCann.
That’s what I’d be doing!
But if you love Max or Jensen, which are lovely names, go with it/them.
Congratulations, OP.

It has a superhero-alter-ego vibe which I think is quite cool.

As a pp has pointed out, however, Max and variants are not unusual - if that is important to DH.

Sorry but I also thought of poor Maddie Mccann straight away. I do like max and illiteration names usually though.

I like it.
I don't think Jenson flows that well with McCann. I know lots of Maxes and no Jensons though, if you want unusual.
