Baby names
Leonardo or Max…or Luca
Barriguda · 12/03/2023 11:13
Getting close now, about 3 weeks to go still haven’t decided! I know I’ve posted a similar post a while back…
So I really like Leonardo and Max but love Luca. My OH really likes Max and Leonardo but is not fond of Luca. Last name is Winter.

Max is my favourite (followed by Luca and then Leonardo)
Congratulations and best wishes for safe arrival of your little one!

Luca is my absolute favourite boys name, I love it, but if your husband doesn't like it then Max over Leonardo. I do actually prefer Leo over Max, but Max over Leonardo if that makes sense. All 3 are really lovely names, I don't think you could go wrong here!
Epicstorm · 12/03/2023 11:38
Luca Winter doesn’t flow. Seems to take a lot of saying so I wouldn’t chose that despite preferring Luca to the other options.

I’m sure I’ve read a book where the main character is called Max Winter… wracking my pea brain to remember. All lovely names.
bigbluebus · 12/03/2023 11:44
I think Max goes better with your surname. Luca Winter is quite clunky to say.
Kisskiss · 12/03/2023 11:46
I love max and luca ( was our choices too) but my husband said no to luca because it’s Italian and we are not.. I think max would be better as a longer version?
leo / leon is nice too! Leonardo has the Italian problem too…
SnowdaySewday · 12/03/2023 13:00
If DH dislikes Luca, then it’s not an option. It doesn’t flow with the surname anyway. Leo or Max would be great and together they make a good sib-set if you have another boy in the future. I'd only use Leonardo if the baby will have Italian heritage - if you intend to shorten it, then just go for Leo or Leon anyway.

Max has become boring to my ear, there’s just soooooo many across all age groups. Ditto on Max de Winter/Rebecca connection, makes it sound a bit comical!
Perhaps with the W sound of your surname you should choose a first name that doesn’t end in a vowel?
WedonttalkaboutMaureen · 12/03/2023 13:10
Love love love Luca and I think it goes fine with your surname actually.
Leo is quite cool.
Max is a bit meh for me. It's also a very common dog name where I am (lots of working collies here with short names!)

It’s Max De Winter in Rebecca….ignore me 😆
My mind went to 'Rebecca' too.
Leo's are everywhere, Max's are everywhere, Luca's are almost everywhere.
Ireallydohope · 12/03/2023 15:33
I like them all
Lovely choices
If I had to pick one I'd choose Max

That was the first thing I thought of when I said each name out loud :) As long as they don't give Max the middle initial D I guess it would be okay lol

Max. The other two are OK if you have Italian roots but I'm not keen with your surname
