I loved reading the thread on the old lady names. Which are your favourite old man names?

Mine is Francis but DP vetoed

I only really love the "old men" classics - William, Edward, James, Henry, Charles, Thomas etc, that are admittedly well used on other ages too.

I don't mind Arthur and Alfred so much as they make me think of the famous Kings as well as "old men" and maybe Wilfred (Owen the poet) and cool Ray (Charles the musician).

But in general I don't get the love for baby names that remind people of the very elderly - unless the child is named after their own beloved grandparent/ great-grandparent. So many young boys I know seem to have them now though, I guess it's the latest thing- along with the cute nickname type names, or surnames as given names, or the "ends in O" trend 😂

Think so too. Most of these names are just so fuddy duddy old and conservative .Cannot imagine calling a beautiful baby such a name .My dad was Cecil .Just awful .I told him even as a child that I would never be able to call a child after him.
