Max

I really like the name Max but wondered if it’s slightly odd that you’d see it everywhere as a word -Pepsi Max, max strength, max speed, min and max etc etc. Feel free to tell me I’m overthinking! Does anyone else have this association?

Nope. I like it. Short and cool 👍

Hellocatshome · 26/02/2023 20:21

Max is a good name but I would definitely have it as a shortening of a longer name. Maxwell or Maximus not Maximillian.

ClaraThePigeon · 26/02/2023 20:21

I don't think it's really an issue.

Cityzen74 · 26/02/2023 20:23

I love the name 😊

BettyOBarley · 26/02/2023 20:24

I love Max. It was on our list for DS.

Never thought of the Pepsi-max thing, although a few people did say it's a dog's name 🙄 (aren't they all).

Twoinapod · 26/02/2023 20:24

I know of quite a few maxs ranging from babies to 30s. They all have a long name though

Oblomov23 · 26/02/2023 20:25

Always liked it. Ds2 wishes we'd called him Maximilian or Maximus though, but I'm ok with it.

toastofthetown · 26/02/2023 20:25

I don’t have the association. Max is such a common name and you’re overthink it. Will, Sue, May and Mark cope fine with their names being common words

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 26/02/2023 20:26

I love the name Max! Sadly we couldn't use it; it sounds a bit too comedy with our surname, but I still love it!

fruitandfibreg · 26/02/2023 20:26

It's super popular where I am (SW) at least one in every baby class but I know about 15 little ones!

fruitandfibreg · 26/02/2023 20:27

Sorry so I don't think the connection matters. It's a popular name for a reason

I knew someone called Max Power that always felt a bit comedy.

Reddahlias · 26/02/2023 20:37

Depends on the surname.

max power or max winter doesn't work, but other surnames should be fine

backtoitin40s · 26/02/2023 20:53

We have a max - teenager now but i always call him maxy as max seems too short! There's also quite a lot of dogs called max .. 😳

shoopshoopdedoo · 26/02/2023 20:58

Really like Max. I don’t make any of those associations that you’re concerned about, possibly because it is so familiar as a name.

Yes that’s my other concern!

Interesting! Why does he wish that? Just to have a longer version to use?

Love Max think its such a cool name, would have been my first choice if we weren't having a girl!

seratoninmoonbeams · 27/02/2023 15:27

I have a Max and love it... and him obvs 😆 it is not short for anything and that's how I like it.

Viviennemary · 27/02/2023 15:28

It's a reasonable name. I don't love it but it's perfectly ok.

Choconut · 27/02/2023 15:29

I really like Max, the long versions though all sound really pretentious to me and I don't like them at all.

Love it!

Clevs · 27/02/2023 21:53

It was our alternative name if we hadn't have chosen the one we have. I think it's a lovely name!
