Stuck on deciding name for second daughter. First daughter is Emmeline and Emmy for short. Middle name will be Anne.

Shortlist at the moment is:
Freya
Talitha (Tally)
Francesca
Juniper
Isobel
Elsbeth (Elsie/Elle/Beth/Betsy not sure which is best)

Last minute indecision!

Freya is gorgeous. Also like Francesca. Not a fan of the others I'm afraid. I think those two both go well with Anne too.

Comedycook · 24/02/2023 19:06

Francesca is my favourite but the "an" in it makes me feel like it doesn't go well with Anne as a middle name but that might just be me !

SurvivingJust1 · 24/02/2023 19:06

Love all except Freya and Isobel, nic e no several of each.

Love Talitha and Tally, how are you pronouncing it?

stirfryer · 24/02/2023 19:13

@SurvivingJust1 pronounced similar to tabitha just with an l not a b

Juniper gets my vote. I actually like all of them though!

PoorMrsNorris · 24/02/2023 19:16

Of your list I like Betsy best but as the proper name.

fuckaroo · 24/02/2023 19:20

Francesca without a doubt!

RoseMartha · 24/02/2023 19:21

Francesca

stirfryer · 24/02/2023 19:26

@Comedycook good point... Fran Anne doesn't work 😂 we do like Francesca but ideally would want a cutsie nickname for when they are little to mirror Emmy and I'm not sure any of the obvious diminutives from Francesca fit

I like Francesca the best, followed by Juniper.

I met a Tally recently and wondered if it was short for anything - Talitha isn't a name I'm familiar with. It's ok, definitely better than Tabitha which I don't like.

How about Florence?

stirfryer · 24/02/2023 19:44

@User6761 I've only ever met one Talitha, I like how it's an elegant name but also sounds quite cool if they don't grow up a girlie girl

I like Freya but it is very popular now

Juniper I love but it’s a different vibe from your first DD if that bothers you.

I agree Francesca is a bit too much with Anne, I do like the nn Cesca though, much better than fran or frankie

Personally I would go for Talitha, I’ve never heard it before but I think it’s beautiful, really nice for a child and an adult.

17caterpillars1mouse · 24/02/2023 19:58

Freya - it's ok, but very popular and feels a bit meh next to Emmeline

Talitha (Tally) - love it

Francesca - pretty but dislike Fran and Frankie and it's long so I imagine would get shortened

Juniper - not a fan. Just makes me think of gin

Isobel - pretty and the best spelling

Elsbeth - nice (and I like Betsy or Essie - not Elsie though) but I prefer Elspeth NN Elspie

AltheaVestr1t · 24/02/2023 19:59

I know a Talitha. Beautiful name.

wishing3 · 24/02/2023 20:00

Not keen on Elsbeth but all others are lovely.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 24/02/2023 20:01

Of those I like Freya and Isobel, Francesca is ok, not keen on the rest.

stirfryer · 24/02/2023 20:01

@Twoinapod yes agree about the different vibe for Juniper otherwise that was high up on the list. I would like some synergy with Emmeline and had ruled out other names which don't match.

Talitha (Tally) and Elsbeth (Elsie) are current top contenders. I do take on board all the votes for Francesca too, I do love it just would like a nice nickname as Emmy/Tally and Emmy/Elsie are so cute together and we don't use Emmy's full name much, it's more so she has an elegant adult name.

Freya is my fave but also love betsy!

WinterMusings · 24/02/2023 20:15

Out of your list I prefer Isobel (Issy/Belle)

HATE Francesca (sorry) Really bad experience with one & never met a nice one)

Freya - not keen (@ not an Elegant longer name)

I think Talitha could sound a bit 'speach impediment' in many accents)

I went to school with a Talita.

Juniper - shortened to Gin??

Elsbeth - sounds like you've mistaken
it for Elspeth.

Charlotte - Charley or Lottie??

FayCarew · 24/02/2023 20:30

Freya - overused
Talitha (Tally) - is it Tal-eetha? Tally has a meaning (living tally, on the tally)
Francesca - ok, but it's a bit long
Juniper - no
Isobel - Isabelle/a too popular
Elsbeth (Elsie/Elle/Beth/Betsy not sure which is best) - does it need shortening? Not keen on Elsie/Elle/Ellie/Beth but like Betsy and Bess.

COPPER3 · 24/02/2023 20:38

Talitha is absolutely beautiful!
The name Isabelle/Isobel is very, very popular..
Francesca is nice, but prefer Cesca as the shortened version, rather than Fran.

Purpletopaz42 · 24/02/2023 21:46

My favourites on your list are Francesca and Isobel, I think they're both really lovely names.

Mumofgirls2017 · 24/02/2023 22:42

Juniper!

user1492757084 · 25/02/2023 00:58

I like Emmy and ...

Francesca Jane- Cesca The sound of Jane is less matchy
Juniper Grace - Juniper or June There are fewer 'n' sounds
Isobel Anne - Issy
Elsbeth Anne - Elsa or Elsie or Betsy

Anne has same meaning as Jane and Grace.

shoopshoopdedoo · 25/02/2023 01:05

I like Freya and Isobel.
