Middle name for Joy

Hello
DC3 on the way, we have decided on the name Joy and we are really happy with it, but are stuck on a middle name.
Both DC1&2 have family names for the middle so we didn’t need to think too much about it 😅
We have a long rather unusual Irish surname.

I was thinking a two syllable name sounds best but I can’t really decide. Love French names but I’m seriously drawing a blank.
thanks!

Does Joy Eleanor sound a bit much? My DH thinks it’s a mouthful

Joy Leonor maybe better?

Joy Alexandra flows beautifully.

I think you need four syllables to create a nice rhythm!

Bananaramad · 21/02/2023 09:48

Maybe Joy Ellen/Elle/Ella rather than Eleanor
Joy Anna

Joy Elise or Joy Alexandra

I really like the name Joy.

Do you have no other family names to draw on? Seems unfair on your little Joy if her siblings get a family name but she doesn't. What about giving her your name as a middle name?

Bigpinktrain · 21/02/2023 10:54

@AnotherSpare sorry I haven’t been clear DC1&2 share mine and DH’s middle names. We won’t be having any more children so didn’t want to start with the grandparents’ names.

I think Anna is lovely after joy.

Bigpinktrain · 21/02/2023 11:05

Thank you for the suggestions.
I agree I think it needs to be a 2+ syllable name to get a nice sounding rhythm.

Celeste is lovely

I’m going to put them to DH and my children and see what they think!

Ah, I see. I only asked as my two siblings have my mother and father's middle names as their's too, and then I don't have a family middle name. It's such a silly thing to be bothered by but honestly I've always felt disappointed not to have that family link too.

Tiredandawake · 21/02/2023 12:24

Love the name Joy! Almost named my newborn it but couldn't in the end. I was fighting for the name Joy Magnolia

I think a longer middle name works best with such a short first name but I guess you need to consider your surname as well if it's lengthy

That makes sense and thank you for mentioning it, I would probably feel the same!
