Middle name for Joy

Hello
DC3 on the way, we have decided on the name Joy and we are really happy with it, but are stuck on a middle name.
Both DC1&2 have family names for the middle so we didn’t need to think too much about it 😅
We have a long rather unusual Irish surname.

I was thinking a two syllable name sounds best but I can’t really decide. Love French names but I’m seriously drawing a blank.
thanks!

You could make it Joyeuce, Joy for short.

Beautiful name.

Bigpinktrain · 21/02/2023 14:16

That’s a beautiful suggestion, but some of my family are from the midlands, I think they may butcher the pronunciation 😂

I really like Joy Alize

Does Joy Eleanor sound a bit much? My DH thinks it’s a mouthful

Joy Leonor maybe better?

You probably want the emphasis in the second name to be on the second syllable.

The rhythm of emphasis on Joy Eleanor is UP UP down down (JOY EL-ea-nor) - which doesn't work - two strong syllables next to each other sounds a bit off I think.

Joy Alize sounds better because it goes UP down UP down (JOY a-LI-zay)

Joy song?

Song is a gender neutral name of Chinese origin. Meaning "strong", "powerful", and "soothing" while also considering the English context of the word, there's a lot of definitions to choose from.

@AnotherSpare sorry I haven’t been clear DC1&2 share mine and DH’s middle names. We won’t be having any more children so didn’t want to start with the grandparents’ names.

Could you not just give her the same middle name as her sister?

Potentially a bit unimaginative, I suppose.

Me and my sister both have my mums name as a middle name Grin

Bigpinktrain · 21/02/2023 16:35

my middle name and DD middle name is Marie. Joy Marie is beautiful, but is it too much if we all have the same mn?

Joy Alexandra flows beautifully.

I think you need four syllables to create a nice rhythm!

I came on to say this... Also Elizabeth or Olivia

Alwaysworryingoversomething · 21/02/2023 16:41

Amelia

But just seem Rosalie - also like that.
