I really like Arrietty but I know it’s not a really name and long so don’t know if it’s totally crazy.

Like Amelia, ok with Grace.

Sirzy · 13/02/2023 18:30

I like all of them other than arrietty. What about Amity?

PotKettel · 13/02/2023 18:32

I worked with an Arriette. I think it is a nice name. You could use Arrietty as a nn

viques · 13/02/2023 18:33

Amelia, Grace.

Lottie could be Charlotte or Carlotta, both preferable.

Arriety is a funny choice, it was a ‘borrowed’ name in the Borrowers book, ie the Borrowers borrowed it from the human beans, bit odd to be borrowing it back.

Spanielsarepainless · 13/02/2023 18:33

Love Fleur.

Happenchance · 13/02/2023 18:34

Ariadne? Fleur is too similar to Bleurgh for my liking.

viques · 13/02/2023 18:34

You could use Harriet and call her Arietty, but still odd.

YourUserNameMustBeAtLeast3Characters · 13/02/2023 18:36

I do like Arrietty, even though it’s not the kind of name I usually like, I remember it from The Borrowers.

Depends where you live though. It would be Ari’e’ay where I live which is less attractive.

I like Lottie, with Charlotte (or Charlotta) as the full name.

GoodChat · 13/02/2023 18:36

I don't like Arietty or Fleur. The others are fine.

What about Hattie if you like Arietty?

Lawandsawdus · 13/02/2023 18:39

Favourite is Grace

Kranke · 13/02/2023 19:01

Ivy is nice. Arietty sounds like an Italian antipasti.

Rauha · 13/02/2023 19:07

Ivy

AcrobaticCardigan · 13/02/2023 19:08

Arrietty - ridiculous beyond words!! Just no!

Lottie - love it!

Amelia - boring.

Harper - quite like!

Grace - lovely classic

Fleur - no

Ivy - nice

BirdyBoop · 13/02/2023 19:08

I only like Ivy.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 13/02/2023 19:08

Not sure about the first and I loathe Lottie- it’s a nickname!
love the rest of your list, my favourite being Amelia

WishingIWasOnHoliday · 13/02/2023 19:09

Isnt Arrietty from the Borrowers? Hattie is pretty and not dissimilar.

BevMarsh · 13/02/2023 19:10

Love Grace. A timeless classic.

Mumskisail · 13/02/2023 19:20

I don't like Arriety, it sounds like it would be chosen by someone who is trying too hard to be posh, when no one else would choose it. The parents just end up sounding pretentious and unfortunately quite chavvy 🤷‍♀️.

Wrongsideofpennines · 13/02/2023 19:21

I like Grace the best. And I love Lottie but it would need to be a nickname of something longer for me.

MissingMoominMamma · 13/02/2023 19:25

I like Arrietty! Why can’t you choose the name of an industrious, curious minded, spunky (extremely) little girl, for your child?

My DD’s middle name is Jemima because I’m a Beatrix Potter fan!

Names can come from anywhere.

takethedevilledeggs · 13/02/2023 19:26

I like Harper, Fleur and Ivy.

CafeNervosa · 13/02/2023 19:26

Oh I really like Arrietty! It has lovely nostalgic literary memories for me. And it flows prettily. I don’t understand the it’s a made up name argument…all names are made up.

I also like Romilly which flows in a similar way.

takethedevilledeggs · 13/02/2023 19:26

Sirzy · 13/02/2023 18:30

I like all of them other than arrietty. What about Amity?

Because of all the horror?

Riverlee · 13/02/2023 19:31

Arrietty - read it and immediately thought of Moriaty from Sherlock Holmes’s

Lottie - okay, but nn for Charloyttd

Amelia - ok

Harper - ok

Grace - ok

Fleur - due a revival

Ivy - ok

CafeNervosa · 13/02/2023 19:31

Harper will date I think. Fleur is bleugh. Ivy and Grace are lovely - I know quite a few but that isn’t a reason not to choose a name you like.
