Youngest sister and kids advice not to name my baby...

Fell in love with the name Annamae. (Anna runs in family for generations) Kids advice me not to name my baby girl Annamae as it's sounds like anime and they say she would be bullied. I like the twist on the name Anna as I would like to keep the tradition. What do u guys think? I have no other names in mind. Suggestions welcome

theres a girl on love island called annamae. It immediately made me think of anime but I wouldn't mind that :)

I agree with them. I read it as anime. Also don't really like anything May/Mae. But it's your choice. It's not a bad name.

How about Anne-Marie instead.
Or Anna and Mae as middle name.

It does sound like Anime and I'd imagine you will get lots of random spellings.

Anna is lovely on its own.

Honestly, if you like the name, go for it.

I see their point with "anime", sorry. What about Annaliese / Annalise / Annika / Annora / Annabel / Annabeth. Or a name with Anna / Ana at the end of it. E.g. Liana.

I've never heard Annamae before but prefer Anna May (two names) or Annalise.

How about Annabel May, or Anneliese May, and you can use Annamae as a nickname if you wish, but her school friends won't think of it.

I happen to know her, she was in school with my children. And no one ever called her Anime! hers is Anna-May.
i also know an Anniemae who as far as I’m aware no one has ever made comment on.
@An1ta AnnaRae? Similar but different.

I love it reminded me straight away of anna mae on 'how to get away with murder' I think its annalise's mum who calls her Anna mae

Sounds a bit Deep South to me but it's pretty.

Would your boys name work? We couldn't think of a name for our daughter but was always set on a boys name that I was really really sad I'd never get to use (5th baby between us & also the last!) So we ended up using it and she really suits it! Not many people know it's unisex and it's more popular in America as a girls name.

Boys name wouldn't work. I did think of a unisex name I can't seem to like any name. Absolutely hate Annabelle and can't use Marie. The baby is gonna be here in couple of weeks and still no name. I'm hoping to suddenly know the name the moment I see my baby 😂

It does sound a bit like anime but then if someone introduced themselves as Annamae I would think their name was something like Anna-May or Annamae like you wrote. I don't think I would think of anime. I also don't get how you could bully someone for that. What's wrong with anime? What would you say to bully them?

I think it's the younger generation. Many of them r into anime. Kids can be cruel they always find something to make fun of u. Anime is very popular now. I can imagine what it would be like 10,15 years later. Smh 🙄

In my accent it sounds very similar to anime. The i becomes an ah sound rather than ee. Probably lazy pronunciation but <shrug>.
