Hello, due baby number 2 imminently and already have a Juliette. This is another girl and we've found it a lot more difficult to decide on a name this time! We were thinking of Eleanor for a long time but I just don't like Ellie and feel it'll inevitably become a nickname at some point. Surname begins with L and has 2 syllables. We have the following shortlist:

Louisa (probably top contender)
Sylvie
Phoebe
Rosanna (Rosie)
Martha

Opinions on the above very welcome!

Order of preference:
Sylvie
Martha
Phoebe
Rosanna

I have a Louisa. Fabulous name. Goes well with Juliette.

I suppose alternatively another Shakespearean name may work?

Luredbyapomegranate · 11/02/2023 21:54

I like Louisa best, but don’t think any of them have Juliet’s elegance - other than Rosanna but there are so many Rosies (much like Eleanor and Ellie)

How about

Marianne
Genevieve
Francesca
Lydia
Annabel
Claudia
Verity
Caroline
Saskia
Serena

Rosalyn or Rosalind

I love Louisa and think it goes beautifully.

I also really like Martha and Rosanna.

I'm not a fan of Phoebe at all I'm afraid.

Don't be afraid of Eleanor and the abbreviation. Mine is an Ellie but I know a teenager who has always just been Eleanor and a couple of younger ones with different abbreviations (Ella and Nora), so Ellie is not inevitable if you don't want it.

Phoebe is my favorite on your list, not sure it ‘goes’ with Juliette though if that matters. I like Louisa too and think that works well with Juliette.

All your names are lovely including Eleanor.

Rosamund
Cressida
Lillian
Frances
Helen

Juliette is a really lovely name, great choice. So pretty and classic yet havent met one in my 10'years of parenting.

How about
Aurelie, Anouk, Sandrine or Clemence for little sister?

Mumofgirls2017 · 11/02/2023 22:26

Love Louisa and Sylvie!

Maraudingmarauders · 11/02/2023 22:36

We've been weighing up between Juliet and Georgina, both have a similar feel to us.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 11/02/2023 22:37

Louisa, but may I suggest Josephine?

(I grew up with a sibling with the same initial and surname as me, and now have a dh and a dd with all the sane initials and surname as me and it's really never been a problem).

insomniac1 · 11/02/2023 22:41

Juliette and Amelie!

MotherOfPuffling · 11/02/2023 22:43

Oh I am so envious! I desperately wanted a Juliette and an Isabelle - congratulations and have fun choosing the name x

Tumbleweeder · 11/02/2023 22:44

I LOVE the name Sylvia and I also think Phoebe goes well with Juliette.

How about Rosalind instead? That goes well.
Felicity would be another one maybe?

ImpunityJane · 11/02/2023 22:47

I know more than one Eleanor who is not an Ellie, so I don't think that is inevitable. Louisa is also elegant and goes well with Juliette.

Groutyonehereagain · 11/02/2023 22:48

My favourite is Louisa, I think that's a lovely name. Second choices would be either Rosanna or Sylvie.

MadeOfSteel · 11/02/2023 23:22

Genevieve. Very elegant and feminine, like Juliette.

Dugs2010 · 11/02/2023 23:24

My friend has a juliette and a Clara😊😊

ofwarren · 11/02/2023 23:24

Such a hard choice because you have impeccable taste!
I really love Louisa and Martha though
