Hello, due baby number 2 imminently and already have a Juliette. This is another girl and we've found it a lot more difficult to decide on a name this time! We were thinking of Eleanor for a long time but I just don't like Ellie and feel it'll inevitably become a nickname at some point. Surname begins with L and has 2 syllables. We have the following shortlist:

Louisa (probably top contender)
Sylvie
Phoebe
Rosanna (Rosie)
Martha

Opinions on the above very welcome!

miranda

I have a dd1 Juliette and a dd2 Matilda.
I originally wanted to continue the Shakespearean theme and name dd2 Ophelia, right up until DH suggested the middle name 'buttocks' (as in 'a-feel-of-your-buttocks') which ruined it somewhat Grin

Thank you all so much, lots of food for thought here! Adding Helena to the top of the list (although a little worried about the pronunciation. I love Hel-ain-a... but would it be pronounced Helen-a or Hen-eeen-a? Hmmmm..
Also love Rosalyn and Rosalind but husband isn't so sure.

Thanks again, any opinions gratefully received!

I also love Hel-ain-ah but decided against because I think the majority would say Hel-len-ah
Saying that my name is permanently mispronounced and I don't mind too much.

Louisa - personally prefer Louise
Sylvie - meh
Phoebe - prefer Phaedra
Rosanna (Rosie) - okay but soooo many Rose names these days
Martha - boring

Teeshirt · 12/02/2023 11:19

Louisa and Rosanna.
Not the others -maybe Sylvie if you want to keep the French vibe to match Juliette. I assume you have French links? But I prefer Sylvia if you don’t.

Twoinapod · 12/02/2023 16:54

I’m not really a fan of Louise and not a fan of alliteration names so if surname starts with an L I’d avoid.

I don’t think any have the same vibe as Juliette, but Rosanna is the closest.

I think of names more like Genevive or Vivienne

I like Helena but prefer the He-len-a pronunciation

Nice names although not sure any match Juliette which is lovely.
I do like Helena

Amelie
Louis
Jemima
Hannah
Georgina (georgie)

Louisa
Clara
Cecily

CaffiSaliMali · 12/02/2023 19:57

Rosanna and Sylvie are my favourites from your list. I like Helena a lot, the only one I know is a Hel-ain-a, she's Norwegian.

Seraphina
Cordelia
Evangeline
Charlotte
Rosalind
Anneliese
Josephine
Sabrina
Sabine/Sabina
Penelope
Serena
Cassandra
Adelaide
Clementine

(Some of the above are also from Shakespeare, in case you wanted to avoid although I don't think of Shakespeare as readily with Juliette as I do with Juliet).

Prefer Louisa from your list
How about Madeleine?

user1492757084 · 14/02/2023 08:35

All are lovely.
With Juliette I prefer ...

Juliette and Helena or Helen (Helen-a)
Juliette and Louisa - Lulu
Juliette and Phoebe
Juliette and Rosa or Rosemary or Rose - Rosie

Snoopystick · 14/02/2023 08:38

Love Sylvie / Silvie. Also love Ingrid.

I don't think Eleanor becoming Ellie is inevitable - I know a Nora whose full name is Eleanor. Your other name choices are gorgeous though - I especially love Louisa. I think Juliette and Louisa are beautiful together. Rosanna as Rosie is pretty too - Julie and Rosie are quite cute!!
