How would you feel about being called Khafre? Imagine giving the name over the phone, introducing yourself at a party, what it would look like on a CV

I immediately thought "cafry" for pronunciation. I teach in a school in a predominantly white area of England and wouldn't blink at this name - there are very few classrooms these days which only have traditional UK names.

Some people might ask him if there's a family connection with Egyptian culture, or where the names comes from. But I don't think that's a bad thing necessarily.

I think it’s fairly daft (unless you are Egyptian or an Egyptologist) but have heard worse.

I suggest Edward or George as a middle name.

Do you think every single person who lives in the UK has a nice easy to spell and pronounce English name? Have you never met anyone from another culture in your small world?

That is literally every name ever 🤦

Don't be silly. There are some names that have different spellings but at least if they are popular names people will know the alternate spellings.

Anyway, it's clear you are not looking for opinions at all. You are just wanting to tell people what an amazing name you've decided on for your child and have them wow at your creativity. If you care more about a critical part of your child's identity being a fashion statement for you then good luck to the child.

Oh, and BTW, has t crossed your mind that the name in question can easily be tweaked/mispronounced to sound like a highly offensive term of South African origin for non-white people?

If pronounced “Kafrey” I quite like the sound but the spelling is going to give the lad a life of hell
Give him a more phonetic spelling and maybe it’ll work 🤷🏼‍♀️ … but deffo a No this way 🥴

Sorry but it sounds ridiculous
