Emma, Emily or Emmie?

bellarosabella · 31/01/2023 07:06

Which one would you pick and why?

Emma
Emily
Emmie

Do they give you different images or associations? Which on is the most classic one?

I'm not considering any other versions, so no Emilia, Emmeline, Emme or anything like that.

Thanks!

Emmie, but prefer with a ‘y’.

Tygertiger · 31/01/2023 07:08

Emily or Emma. Then you have the option of Emmie as a nickname for either but she still has a classic/formal name for when this is preferable.

Spotsstripes · 31/01/2023 07:11

Emmie to me is a nickname.
Don't like Emma.
Emily is lovely.

Marmite27 · 31/01/2023 07:11

Emily

cheercaptain · 31/01/2023 07:12

Emily.

LAlady · 31/01/2023 07:13

Emma is my favourite.

Howeverdoyouneedme · 31/01/2023 07:15

Emily

I know three kids called Emmy and I think I prefer Emily with the option to say Emmy.

Lcb123 · 31/01/2023 07:15

emily

CastleTower · 31/01/2023 07:17

Emma for me, but my favourite would be Emilia.

Nothing wrong with Emily, I think I've just known some mean ones!

pilates · 31/01/2023 07:18

Emma - classic

Ralphschocolate · 31/01/2023 07:19

I work in a wchool.

Emma is probably the most classic and least popular.
Emmie and Emily are very popular. We have a few of each.

IceCreamWithSprinkles · 31/01/2023 07:20

I think both Emma and Emily are classic, I’d go with whichever flows best with your surname (though think I slightly prefer Emma).

Emmie I don’t like as a full name, only as a nickname.

hugefanofcheese · 31/01/2023 07:21

Emily. Emma also fine. Emmie is very weak and unformed as a full name.

Mermaidpool · 31/01/2023 07:25

Emma, could use Emmie as nickname several Emma's I know do that

00100001 · 31/01/2023 07:29

Emily

ohyouknowwhatshername · 31/01/2023 07:30

Emma

ofwarren · 31/01/2023 07:32

Emmeline then you can use any of the other names as nicknames.

Yika · 31/01/2023 07:38

Emma, a beautiful classic, and also very international, in case that’s a factor you would consider.

evemillbank · 31/01/2023 07:44

Emma by a mile.

JanuaryBlues2023 · 31/01/2023 07:47

Emily or Emma are both lovely traditional classic names. Whereas, Emmie sounds weak wishy washy and made up.

kiwiandcherries · 31/01/2023 07:47

Definitely Emma for me

Exactly my thoughts. Emmie just sounds like a nickname

GrumpyOldBastard · 31/01/2023 07:51

I’m Emma nn Emmie, so that’s definitely the best option. 😁

ClassroomRunaway · 31/01/2023 07:51

Emma is the strongest and it's a classic for a reason.

Emily is a bit dull/weak to me and Emmie sounds to me a bit like a baby trying to say Emily, so is not for me.

Wrongsideofpennines · 31/01/2023 07:52

Emma is my favourite. I think its more classic. But I know some really lovely Emily's.

Emmie can be a nickname for either and I know both that use it as a nickname.
