Emma, Emily or Emmie?

Which one would you pick and why?

Emma
Emily
Emmie

Do they give you different images or associations? Which on is the most classic one?

I'm not considering any other versions, so no Emilia, Emmeline, Emme or anything like that.

Thanks!

Emma by a whisker from Emily.
Emmie is fine as a nick name.

Emma is well conected to literature. It is classic as is Emily.
Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights and Jane Austin's Emma.

Emma - very elegant
Emily - fine
Emmie - sounds cutesy

aibutohavethisusername · 31/01/2023 21:50

I like Emma & Emily.

Luredbyapomegranate · 31/01/2023 22:16

Emma nn Emmie

Emma is less common than Emily right now, and is more elegant IMO. Emmie is simply too babyish as a full name.

camperjam · 31/01/2023 22:19

Definitely Emma

Divebar2021 · 31/01/2023 22:19

Emma for sure - classic and quite elegant. Emmie as a nickname for Emmeline which I know you don’t like. Emily Is a no for me - a bit dull.

Can’t decide between Emma and Emily.

Emmie is OK as a nickname for either, but I wouldn’t use as an actual name.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 31/01/2023 22:26

Emma.
Emmie is fine for a nickname.

P0mbears · 31/01/2023 22:28

Emma is my favourite, lovely and timeless.
Emily is also a great name. Pretty and feminine but very popular.
I'm not such a fan of a nickname as a real name so I wouldn't go for Emmie. But would use it as a nickname for Emma/Emily

Mercy1968 · 31/01/2023 22:51

Emma because I have an Emma! She is called Em Ems or Emsy.

My friend is Emily. She is Ems.

Emmie sounds a bit wet like some sort of kid in little house on the prairie type thing that s always crying or sulking.

PMAmostofthetime · 31/01/2023 23:30

I love Emmie

It's beautiful, classic and not overused :)

NewYearNewUsername23 · 31/01/2023 23:35

The trouble with names that have the same starting sound as similar names (and I have one of the ones you’ve listed) is that every so often you meet someone who is absolutely convinced your name is different to what it is and what be told otherwise.

irisgoogoo · 31/01/2023 23:41

Emmie

Wowwellokthen · 31/01/2023 23:45

My Emma (15) is also know as Em, Ems or Emmie on occasion

America12 · 01/02/2023 01:21

Emily is lovely. Emmie seems more of a diminutive.

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 01/02/2023 01:38

Emma is a beautiful Classic name .

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/02/2023 01:45

My taste is not yours!

I prefer: 'Emilia, Emmeline, Emme or anything like that'.

Beeswood · 01/02/2023 02:58

Emma, then Emily.

Not Emmie.

DipperandMabel · 01/02/2023 03:17

Emily
then Emma
but not Emmie it’s more of a nickname as others have mentioned

KirstenBlest · 01/02/2023 12:45

Emma

Untrained · 01/02/2023 12:48

Emma - its my sisters name and she is one of the best people I know!

Rowen32 · 01/02/2023 12:58

Emmie doesn't sound like a proper name

frymeariverpls · 01/02/2023 13:00

Emily is super popular atm and I've never really understood why. I really love Emma and Emmy. I'd go Emma with the nickname Emmy
