i know a beau but not boo.

DarrellRivers · 05/02/2008 14:09

me too i know a boy called beau

funnypeculiar · 05/02/2008 14:10

I know a girl called Boe - don't think she gets teased (Y2)
Think they gots lots of 'comments' when she was little though...
She's lovely

funnypeculiar · 05/02/2008 14:11

Pronounced 'beau' btw

castille · 05/02/2008 14:12

It was my sister's nickname. It was sweet while she was little, but she grew out of it. It doesn't sound very grown up, IMO.

MrsMattie · 05/02/2008 14:12

Isn't one of Jamie Oliver's kids called Daisy Boo?

Piffle · 05/02/2008 14:12

jamie olivers daughter is called Daisy Boo

reikizen · 05/02/2008 14:12

I think it's lovely but I'm absolutely sure they would get teased. But don't most kids at some point about their name, hair, shoes, house etc?

emkana · 05/02/2008 14:14

Isn't Ulrika Johnson's daughter called Boo?

AdamAnt · 05/02/2008 14:14

There's a Mumsnetter whose DD's middle name is Boo, I think.

Piffle · 05/02/2008 14:14

snap!

Artichokes · 05/02/2008 14:14

I know a little girl called Bo. She is four and has not been teased yet. Lots of adults raise eyebrows though and I have to admit that many of her parents' friends had a good laugh about the name when it was first announced (although that is partly because of the way it pairs with their surname)

Piffle · 05/02/2008 14:14

ulrikas dd is called Bo not Boo

Slouchy · 05/02/2008 14:15

My dd1 is nicknamed Boo, lots of people thought ot was her really name when they 1st knew her. It suits her but I am of the opinin that people need a sensible (friend calls it a 'barrister name')name as well.

Artichokes · 05/02/2008 14:15

That is Bo pronouned Beau - not boo.

Slouchy · 05/02/2008 14:16

it was her real name (sigh)

SoupDragon · 05/02/2008 14:16

Boo is fine as a nickname (or a middle name really since they don't tend to get used) but not as a first name (IMO)

Bo is different altogether, absolutely fine.

SoupDragon · 05/02/2008 14:17

'barrister name'

LOL! I always say that BabyDragon has a name for all professions from barrister to burlesque dancer

expatinscotland · 05/02/2008 14:19

Tell me you're joking.

cosima · 05/02/2008 14:19

beau is a boys name, the female equivalent is belle

DarrellRivers · 05/02/2008 14:21

DH and I have sadly come the conclusion that DD does not have a first name that goes with the sort of person who we can see being given a Nobel prize for advancement in physics (ie not a barrister name)
Need to consider these things in the immediate post=partum period,

VintageGardenia · 05/02/2008 14:23

Boo for me is always the little girl in Monsters Inc. or the answer to the knock knock joke - Knock Knock - Who's there? - Boo - Boo Who? - Oh stop crying it's only a joke.

Bo is a proper Swedish (? Scandinavian anyway) name, e.g. Bo Derek.

nappyaddict · 05/02/2008 14:23

beau is masculine but bo is both masculine and feminine.

A friend has a dd with middle name Boudicca, nicknamed Boo. Too young for school yet, though!

misdee · 05/02/2008 14:25

dd3 gets called 'Boo' after the little girls in monsters inc. but its not her name.
