Cora? Becoming popular?

I really like this name at the moment. Classy, known but I feel underused, still a little different. What do you think? Is it growing in popularity?

I don’t know any.
It’s very pretty

bluebunnyblue · 01/01/2023 21:48

Definitely getting more popular but still not in top 100. Agree it's pretty and classic.

I know only one, age 5.

QuiltedHippo · 01/01/2023 21:48

It's on the up, from 635th to 149th since 1996. But it's not a mad climb. I like it a lot, had a relative called it and always thought it was a great name

Rabbitsandhabits · 01/01/2023 21:50

Pretty and I’ve not heard it before. My sister wanted to name her daughter Cara and I liked that too!

PrincessConsuelaBanana · 01/01/2023 21:50

My best friends DD is called Cora, she’s 4, it’s a lovely name, I don’t actually know any other Cora’s though.

refuge123 · 01/01/2023 21:51

Yeah. I'm hearing it a lot

HoHoHowMuch · 01/01/2023 21:52

I don't know any and haven't encountered any child ones since having kids. You can't control whether it will rise or fall in popularity, so if you like it, go for it.

Pumpkindoodles · 01/01/2023 21:55

I actually know two! I had assumed it was getting more popular
In our accent I don’t think it sounds great, but I think from other parts of the country it could sound lovely

Mexicola · 01/01/2023 21:57

It will be more popular since Downtown Abbey.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 01/01/2023 22:01

I know one, she’s 50 next year, sorry but I think it’s an awful name, she hates her name too.

bloominglovelyorange · 01/01/2023 22:11

Lovely name. Don't know any

Insomnia23 · 01/01/2023 22:12

Cora in my language means the hard edges of the bread

22WR · 01/01/2023 22:20

I have a DD16, Cora. She didn't used to like it but has grown to like it over the years. We have Irish heritage so it was a nod to my Grandmother's side. I've only ever heard 1 other Cora, who happened to be in my daughter's year at senior school.

Consufed · 01/01/2023 22:21

It reminds me of an apple corer, sorry. Love Cara though.

hithereguyss · 02/01/2023 10:16

Thanks for replies, they are helpful. I can see it's up to 146 and don't really want something as that's going to boom in popularity so that's a worry

I know of 2, both about 1.

pretty name. I guess it’s the Downton Abbey influence.

Butchyrestingface · 02/01/2023 13:26

I loved Cora in my teens - after Cora in Last of the Mohicans.

merrymelodies · 02/01/2023 13:30

I'm rewatching Downton so Cora is music to my ears!Grin

GoodbyeLondon · 02/01/2023 13:32

I like it. I only know one. She is probably 3 or 4

Kobrakid · 02/01/2023 13:34

I have a Cora she’s 9. Picked after a family friend suggested it as it was his aunts name. We chose it because it’s different but still a real name. I personally think it’s a pretty name.

crumpet · 02/01/2023 13:34

I know a 6 and a 4 year old, and know of others. Definitely becoming more popular

Yesthatismychildsigh · 02/01/2023 13:36

No, I don’t know any, but it’s a beautiful name. Simple and elegant.

Dissuadepersuade · 02/01/2023 13:37

I know of 3 under 4. Its very pretty

Twizbe · 02/01/2023 13:39

I know one who's almost 6.
