Adelaide for sure. Sydney is a distant second. Harper never.

RambamThankyouMam · 03/01/2023 07:01

Adelaide Juliet is just about passable.

Rose is overused ("it's a family name!" Sure, Jan...)

Sydney is disgusting. Like a mulchy lawn.

Nimbostratus100 · 03/01/2023 07:04

Adelaide and Heidi for short

Lovely

I hate Harper, and to me, it means "whiny"

RuthW · 03/01/2023 08:03

Adelaide Rose

Benjispruce4 · 03/01/2023 08:12

Rose or Juliet. I’m not a fan of place names as Christian/first names or of surnames such as Harper.

Benjispruce4 · 03/01/2023 08:13

I wasn’t aware Heidi was short for Adelaide.🤔

Benjispruce4 · 03/01/2023 08:14

Just checked. It’s a derivative of Adelheid. Quite different.

Go all out and go foe Sydney Harper

😂😂😂

greenteafiend · 03/01/2023 08:23

Adelaide by a mile, but I'd pick a less tired middle name.

Sydney will create confusion about gender, and Harper sounds like the sort of name an Instagram Mummy calls her kids. Also, "Harping on about XYZ."

JustMaggie · 03/01/2023 08:26

Adelaide is my favourite. I think it's a beautiful name and has lots of options for nicknames

Whichwhatnow · 03/01/2023 09:41

Adelaide is one of my favourite names ever. I love the fact that people are saying 'but it's a place name!!!' when that place was literally named after a person (a queen no less!). So I'd 100% go for that.

Not overly keen on Sydney/Syd (just don't really like the sound of the word) and Harper is... ok... but a bit meh.

BarbourandWellies · 03/01/2023 09:46

Adelaide is my favourite of your first name choices, altho I love Juliet. Harper=harpy in my head, and I just don’t like the sound generally, and Sydney makes me think of a guys name, and not a great one.
I also like Adeline. I know you didn’t ask for suggestions, sorry!

urbanbuddha · 03/01/2023 09:51

I don’t love any of them.

Rosanna?

MerryChristmasToYou · 03/01/2023 10:34

Adelaide makes me think of Addle-ade. I don't like it.
Sydney - not sure, Sid James puts me off
Harper - ok as a surname but makes me think of
Harpy and Harpoon

Adelheid is not ‘quite’ different from Adelaide. They are variations of the same name.

Benjispruce4 · 03/01/2023 11:59

Sounds different. Which is quite major in choosing a name.

18e6281o62 · 03/01/2023 14:17

I love Adelaide. We chose it as a middle name, partly because we liked it but also because it's a family name.

We don't get a lot of compliments on it though - as this thread shows, I think people think we named her after a city that we have no connection to...

PritiPatelsMaker · 03/01/2023 15:15

I like Adelaide Juliet, or AJ for short.

I've met so many little Harpers last year that it's our me off a bit.

user1492757084 · 03/01/2023 15:47

Alexandra Rose - Sandy.
Rose Adelaide - Rose Bay
Bonnie Layne - after Layne Beachley, a strong surfer woman.
Julia Rose - Port Julia is in South Australia

Penguinsaregreat · 03/01/2023 16:54

I like Adelaide best. It has quite a different feel to the other names.
Sydney was always a man’s name. I had relatives with this name as a child albeit a different spelling.
Harper sounds too unisex/masculine. Like a previous poster pointed out Harper was the middle name of Harper Lee and babes after a man.
I disagree about Rose it’s a beautiful band which has stood the test of time. Much better to use that than sone random nabe without meaning to you, or one which doesn’t flow.

Penguinsaregreat · 03/01/2023 16:55

Name not band.

MulberryMoon · 03/01/2023 16:57

Adelaide Rose is lovely

DillDanding · 03/01/2023 17:03

I don’t like any of them. Juliet is nice though.
