Torn between two boys names Ozzy and Marley. Any preferences?

Ozzy is a nickname, both sound like dog names to me

zurala · 01/01/2023 19:59

Sorry but they sound like names for dogs to me

cptartapp · 01/01/2023 20:02

I know an Ozzy, he's 18 months old.
Not keen. Nor Marley.

ShillyShallySherbet · 01/01/2023 20:04

Could you call him Oliver with the nickname Ozzy just so he has options? If so that would be my preference.

Spenn · 01/01/2023 20:04

Neither. See also Presley, Hendrix, Patton, Cobain, Morrissey, Fish, Meatloaf and, Alice (for a boy)

MrsMitford3 · 01/01/2023 20:08

The only experience I have with those names are both cockapoos.

Maybe as nicknames as a PP suggested?

Mybonnielad · 01/01/2023 20:09

Neither, sorry.

Marley sounds like a surname. However some people want to hijack surnames for first names eg Jackson, Bronson.

Ozzy is a nickname. Nothing wrong with that per se but he might get questioned along the lines of "so what's that short for?"

It's short for Oswald. It is also a diminutive of Osborne, which is a surname.

KnickerlessParsons · 01/01/2023 20:16

Marley is a girl's name, or a ghost, or a surname.

KnickerlessParsons · 01/01/2023 20:16

And Ozzy is just dreadful.

HeatAndEat · 01/01/2023 20:17

What breed?

blebbleb · 01/01/2023 20:17

Makes me think of a ghost or the singer. Both weird names.

Trinity65 · 01/01/2023 20:18

FFS

Love Ozzie

Adviceneeded200 · 01/01/2023 20:20

I know an Ozzy, but he's actually called Oliver.

My mates dog is called Marley

Sandysandwich · 01/01/2023 20:21

Marley, I knew one and it suited him.
Ozzy i have only seen as a nickname for Oscar but I prefer Marley

TheaBrandt · 01/01/2023 20:22

A Victorian ghost and a dog. Each to their own I guess.

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/01/2023 20:25

This is a wind-up, surely?

John, Micheal, Robert, Nesta were the actual first and middle names of the singers in question. All good names. And Nesta is unusual if that's what you're looking for.

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 01/01/2023 20:27

Get this moved to the pet section - you've got it in baby names!

BlueSuffragette · 01/01/2023 20:29

Sorry OP, don't like either. Maybe for a dog but not a child.

bizzywiththefizzy · 01/01/2023 20:37

I knew a pub dog called Ozzy (black Alsatian) . Great game of fetch with beermats . 😁

Galarunner · 01/01/2023 20:39

I know a Marley , a boy suits him, doesn't strike me as particularly out there or unusual.

ofwarren · 01/01/2023 20:40

Great names for pets

Findyourneutralspace · 01/01/2023 20:41

Sorry OP but they are my pet’s names. A cat and a dog.

derekthe1adyhamster · 01/01/2023 20:42

Marley
