How do you find Michael for a baby boy?

Good trad name.

Sugarfree23 · 15/12/2022 23:45

Really cute actually. And I don't mind the shortened Mick or Mike if he wants to when he's a teen or older but I wouldn't call a child by those nicknames.

Andthisyoushallknow · 15/12/2022 23:46

Beautiful name

Mariposista · 15/12/2022 23:55

Lovely traditional name

greenteafiend · 15/12/2022 23:57

Absolutely love it--great, classic, masculine name. Can't go wrong with Michael!

Purplemagnolias · 16/12/2022 07:59

I know sooo many middle aged Michaels that to me it still feels dull and overused. It must have been super popular in the 1960s/1970s!

toastofthetown · 16/12/2022 08:23

It feels dated to me, but though it’s dropped significantly in popularity since being in the top ten from 1934 to 1984, it’s maintained a spot in the top hundred since 1904. As a full name Michael is quite nice, it has a soft and gentle sound to it, though it does feel a bit dull from decades of heavy use. I don’t like Mike or Mick which feel pretty inevitable.

It was used a lot then, but in the context of far fewer names being considered at all, and it wasn't 'trendy'. It's a classic name that had a bit of a surge around then.

AnnieApple123 · 16/12/2022 09:33

Nice but on its way out.

Luredbyapomegranate · 16/12/2022 10:34

Love it, and very underused right now

Mikey is sweet too

TheSandgroper · 16/12/2022 11:37

A good name. And good for an adult which is important.

Doublechins · 16/12/2022 11:40

My nearly 2 year old nephew is a Michael. Gorgeous name

FromParisToParis · 16/12/2022 11:42

I think it’s really dated, I know a few Michaels, all 50+ apart from one in his 20s. I think the short versions of Mick and Mike are dreadful.

MerryChristmasToYou · 16/12/2022 13:47

Classic. I like Mike and Mick too.

Imogensmumma · 16/12/2022 13:50

Love it, it’s gorgeous and will suit at all stages of life

BlueSuffragette · 16/12/2022 13:52

Love it. Suits all stages of life.

Purplemagnolias · 16/12/2022 16:21

and it wasn't 'trendy'.

It certainly feels like it was. Within my own extended family we have 5 Mikes...! All aged around 50.

So to me Michael/Mike feels like a popular name of the 1970s. It must have been pretty popular.

RunDownRita · 16/12/2022 16:23

Like it a lot. Far from being on its way out, I think it’s been out and is coming back in.

hattie43 · 16/12/2022 16:26

It feels dated but far better than some of the shockers we hear on here .

Justcashnosweets · 16/12/2022 16:26

I really like it.
