Which one is your favourite?

Katherine or Emily.

The others feel so overdone, especially Olivia, Amelia, Ava. Ava has a nice sound, though.

Charlotte doesn't sound nice to me.

merryhouse · 20/11/2022 14:53

My immediate thought was Mia, don't know why.

I like Katherine.

courgettigreensadwater · 20/11/2022 14:55

I like Emily best out of them and do think the bottom three are very very popular at the moment and for the past 15 years ish. I think Alexa would be better though 🤣

margegunderson · 20/11/2022 14:57

She's her own person - why does her name have to go with her brother's? Just choose some names you like and when she's born take a day or two to make sure she fits it.

groovergirl · 20/11/2022 14:58

Katherine. It's the strongest of your list and has good nicknames such as Kitty, Kate, Kathy and Kat.
Olivia is elegant.
The other names are a bit wet, and Amelia is awful. Sorry!

Luredbyapomegranate · 20/11/2022 15:43

Katherine - partly it just is, but it's also the only one that isn't overused, and has the bonus of loads of short forms.

other nice ones that haven't been overdone lately -

Frances
Claudia
Stella
Lois
Verity
Lydia
Marianne

Charlotte, Emily or Olivia

Nsky62 · 20/11/2022 18:02

My middle name is KathArine, yes with an a not e, doesn’t go well with first name, Lydia is beautiful tho

dream28 · 20/11/2022 18:25

I always had soft spot for Katherine with a K. Looks more complete to me.

kiwiandcherries · 20/11/2022 18:30

I love the sound of Alex and Olivia together but it is a popular name, not that this should stop you choosing it. It's a lovely name!

anon12234 · 20/11/2022 18:33

I also like Alice but is Alex and Alice too similar. I feel like I might stumble on their names when calling them for dinner!

kiwiandcherries · 20/11/2022 18:37

Personally I would definitely not have Alex and Alice together - way too similar!

SortofChandra · 20/11/2022 18:41

Ivy

toastofthetown · 20/11/2022 18:43

Alice and Alex are way too similar. I have a friend called Alex and she is always introducing herself with an emphasis on the x, and still people hear it as Alice half the time.

The names (other than Katherine) are all popular now and none of them have any issues being used alongside Alex. My favourite would be Katherine if she was known as Kitty (but I don't like Kath(y) or Kat(i)e). Why not keep an open mind and see if one name suits her more when she's born?

Whiskeypowers · 20/11/2022 18:45

From your list I like Ava
none of the others

if you’re open to other suggestions how about

Lucy
Anna
Juliette
Hannah
Inez

SuperheroBirds · 20/11/2022 18:59

I like Katherine and Charlotte from your list.
my other suggestions would be Phillipa, Anne, and Elizabeth (although, I suspect this may now become overdone in memory of the Queen)

TalkisChips · 20/11/2022 19:00

Does popularity bother you as literally every other girl is called Ava, Amelia or Olivia. All the Olivia’s are known as Olivia P, Olivia G etc when my DC talk about them at school.

anon12234 · 20/11/2022 19:37

My name is really unusual and I hated it because it never appeared in books or bracelets in shops. Sounds superficial but you are as an eight year old. Also people always mispronounced it. I do like it now but it too me years to like it so not too bothered about having a popular name.

Yes open to other suggestions. I like Lois, Anna and Beth

Josephine or Josie

staybyyou · 20/11/2022 19:58

My first thought was Annabel.

I like Charlotte best out of your list.

DuchessOfSausage · 20/11/2022 20:44

Emily - ok
Charlotte - ok
Katherine - best
Olivia - so many of them. Al & Ol
Amelia - not keen, too popular, a bit matchy-matchy
Ava - don't like it at all

Alliolly · 20/11/2022 21:27

We have Alexander and are considering Isabella. I don't love it, but it's the only name we kind of agreed on so far

BrassyLocks · 20/11/2022 21:30

Alex and Amy
