Charlotte

I know 10+ Emily's, not a huge fan of it. Ava and Amelia are best imo although still very overdone

Charlotte or Katherine.

But if this matters 'My name is really unusual and I hated it because it never appeared in books or bracelets in shops' -- go for Charlotte. There are so many spellings of Katherine that it might be hard to find the right one.

Alex and Laura
Alex and Eleanor
Alex and Elena (less likely to be on named items though?)
Alex and Rebecca
Alex and Kim (Kimberley)
Alex and Rachel
Alex and Stephanie

We have an Alexander (Alex) and Katherine (Katie) was on our shortlist, though we didn't use it.

We liked the idea that there has been both an Alexander the Great and a Catherine the Great.

My name is really unusual and I hated it because it never appeared in books or bracelets in shops. Sounds superficial but you are as an eight year old. Also people always mispronounced it. I do like it now but it too me years to like it so not too bothered about having a popular name.

Yes open to other suggestions. I like Lois, Anna and Beth

Haha, mine too! I also went for popular/known names as a result.

I like Katherine and Charlotte.

What about Lucy? (Meaning light)

soulinablackberrypie · 25/11/2022 18:55

They are all good names, but Emily and Charlotte are my favourites. Is Alex's full name Alex or Alexander? I think that would make a difference to my choice, as Katherine (I slightly prefer it spelt with a C, but it's nice either way) would be a good match for Alexander, having lots of different short forms and a sort of regal feel, whereas if it's just Alex I might choose one of the shorter names like Emily. Personally I wouldn't choose another name beginning with A, but I'm aware that not everybody has a thing about that.

Emily goes really well with Alex.

Thank you all. He is an Alexander but we always call him Alex

Lucy is lovely but have a close friend with the name.

I love your thinking. We also love the connection to Alexander the Great

My name was very popular for a short period. If I told you what my name is, you could guess which decade I was born. It peaked for four years and I was born in one of those years.
One of the things I liked about both Alexander (Alex) and Katherine (Katie) was that neither of them would define our children in that way.
They are both flexible names.

Mumofgirls2017 · 28/11/2022 11:44

Olivia

LittlemissMama67 · 30/11/2022 11:34
