Our baby girl is due on the 4/11. We have decided on Luna for our baby girl, I looked at the meaning of this name and I love it. Any other name beginning with L would be appreciated.

I know 3 dogs called Luna. So I think of it as a dog's name.

sevenbyseven · 31/10/2022 21:32

I know an adult Luna but no pets or children with that name. I like it, and it works in lots of languages.

EvAlSa · 31/10/2022 21:34

It's cute

I mean she might end up being called Lunatic, or Luna Balloona, or Looney.

I know too many dogs called Luna but it is pretty and shouldn't date too badly.

Littlesquirrel77 · 31/10/2022 21:34

What about Lilia? Luna sounds like a pets name

misteriosa · 31/10/2022 22:10

I really liked it when I was a teenager. But it's got so popular in the last few years that it feels overdone and overexposed now. I can see it being a dated kind of name in the future.

Sarahcoggles · 31/10/2022 22:32

Luna at DS's school is known as Loony Luna. Personally I'd steer clear of names that invite ridicule.

Buteverythingsfine · 31/10/2022 22:37

I think it's a pretty name. I also know a lovely Bella. Don't think of dogs at all but I can't really remember my friends dogs names anyway.

Honeyroar · 31/10/2022 22:41

We adopted a rabbit called Luna. So what? It’s a lovely name for a person or a baby girl. Kids have all kinds of names now. Pets seem to have (previously) human names and kids have (previously) pet’s or object’s names.

Kite22 · 31/10/2022 22:47

I don't like it, but more relevant is, if you have decided, then why are you asking ?

No499 · 31/10/2022 22:48

Pretty! It's my dog's name.

PinkPupZ · 31/10/2022 23:00

It's a nice name but the top dog name at the moment

Looney Luna

No

also too many Lena/Lyra/Lara names - they all blur

Oona?

Trez1510 · 02/11/2022 04:47

Sorry, I'm in the 'pets camp' too. Cats.

How about:

Leona
Leora

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 02/11/2022 05:55

I just think Loony. It's really not good to use for an actual person because of that.

user375242 · 03/11/2022 12:35

It used to be unusual when my teenager was little, popular with alternative type parents. Now it has risen exponentially in popularity and is number 35 in the name charts. So don't listen to people who say it sounds like a dog name. They said the same about other in fashion names that rose quickly initially like Oscar, Arlo and Ivy. However, it will certainly be a name that dates her when she is older, and you will come across many others, if that bothers you.

BabyB2022 · 13/11/2022 14:41

I love Luna and am a huge Harry Potter fan. Its one of my top two, swaying towards a slightly less popular name, but I'd quite like to use it as a middle name.

RambamThankyouMam · 13/11/2022 17:40

Dreadful. Sounds like lunatic.

The sort of name that pops up in OK magazine.

Berlinlover · 13/11/2022 17:42

Sorry, I just think of lunatic.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 13/11/2022 17:44

I like it but I agree that every other girl dog you come across is called Luna so that kind of ruins it.

Dreamingcats · 13/11/2022 23:23

I love it. Don't care about the pet thing at all. Makes me think of the beauty of the moon.

Marcipex · 13/11/2022 23:49

I would like it but of course she will be teased. Loony lunatic. Sad but true.

Also the world doesn’t need any more Luna, Lula, Lila, Ayla, Isla, Lily, Lilia, Layla or Lola’s.

Lyra is pretty but the only one I know was being called ‘Liar liar pants on fire’ by reception age.
