Timeless or boring?

Has anyone any ideas of other timeless classics?

Love it!

Potato28 · 30/10/2022 18:12

Jane is the next name after Karen

I wouldnt

yikesanotherbooboo · 30/10/2022 18:13

Definitely timeless and , to me, sounds current in the non frilly style of Mary, Nora , Margaret etc

ProperVexed · 30/10/2022 18:16

Lovely.

luciaann · 30/10/2022 18:21

Boring. So so boring. Plain Jane.

My timeless classics that I like are

Emma
Chloe
Lauren
Juliet

Jane is classic but not timeless. The fact that it was in the top 10 in 1960's, had fallen out of the top hundred by the 1990's and recently hasn't even had 50 babies a year with the name means that the name is pretty dated. Jane is someone my mum goes to book club with, not a preschooler.

Saying that, I do think Jane has a beauty in its simplicity and it's dated in a way which I would find it refreshing to come back, unlike the similar (and popular at a similar time) Janet. I have noticed an uptick in posts about Jane in recent years and I think it's a name which would be broadly liked.

I've never heard of Jane next to Karen 😂

Bobbingcat · 30/10/2022 18:28

Jane is sweet

hattie43 · 30/10/2022 18:31

Jane is for people with zero imagination.

Kanaloa · 30/10/2022 18:31

It’s pretty, classic, simple. At the moment when lots of girls are Olivia or Amelia it is unusual for a baby. I really like it.

SuperGinger · 30/10/2022 18:32

Lovely

Aquamarine1029 · 30/10/2022 18:33

I like it. I also like it spelled Jayne.

numberthirtytwowindsorgardens · 30/10/2022 18:35

Beautiful!

Batiqueattic · 30/10/2022 18:36

Classic, timeless, beautiful.

freyamay74 · 30/10/2022 18:39

Classy. Far nicer than the unimaginative Tilly/Milly/Molly/Ellie etc which are everywhere

sopeas · 30/10/2022 18:40

I think it’s really quite pretty. Simple but classically pretty.

MalagaNights · 30/10/2022 18:41

It is classic and elegant in its simplicity.

I think it will have a revival soon but you're probably ahead of the curve.

Anne will then also have a revival with spare elegance being sought over cute tweeness.

Cotswoldmama · 30/10/2022 18:41

Jane does make me think 'plain Jane' I've always liked Sarah, Lucy and Anna. I think they're quite timeless.

ApolloandDaphne · 30/10/2022 18:42

I adore Jane. I always wished that was my name.

Astitichintimesaveswine · 30/10/2022 18:42

Not a fan but I like June.

SummaLuvin · 30/10/2022 18:43

it's about as exciting as a bag of ready salted crisps

goingtotown · 30/10/2022 18:45

Lovely name but spelt Jayne.

Jaybird43 · 30/10/2022 18:46

I think it’s a very pretty name, especially as a middle name!

Whoneedsleep · 30/10/2022 18:46

Mixed bag 😄

What is a more exciting but also not crazy/chavvy/really really old fashioned/not too overused (don’t mind popular to an extent)

Don’t mind Anna or Emily but love neither.

Cant use Emma, Katie, Kate, Eve.

Kind of both. It's very plain, but you do have Jane Austen as a namesake.
