Boys name you weren’t quite brave enough to use?

Struggling to think of another boys’ name. I like names that aren’t super popular - so i’d love to hear your boy name choices that maybe were ever-so-slightly too “out there” for you to use!

Rheneas, Kirby and not at all out there but I love Riley but couldn’t use it due to all the negative connotations.

Lilacsunflowers · 09/10/2022 09:52

So many 'brave' names mentioned on this thread are pretty standard around where I live. At our Secondary we have boys called
Sebastian, Quentin, Caspar, Alister, Dexter.

Gabriel is a great name, don’t think that’s out there at all.

I really like Fife and Colm but didn’t feel I could use them sadly ☹️
also loved Nouri but couldn’t bring myself to do it

It wasn't so much I wasn't brave enough to use them, more that DH loathed them!

I wanted Cruz (long long before the beckhams )
then partner hated it.

soulinablackberrypie · 09/10/2022 11:47

I liked Jago, Jarvis and Riley. DH thought they were too out there - but then he liked Tobias (which I don't hate, but he wanted Toby for short and I thought why not just call him Toby in that case, so we went for something completely different).

OP do be aware that some of these names that people weren't "brave" enough to use are pretty much top 20 in lots of parts of the UK eg Felix and Gabriel.

For me it was Taliesin. I would have loved to use that but wouldn't have been brave enough.

Yes, what on earth would be ‘brave’ about calling your child Cillian, Barnaby, Cormac, Felix, Lachlan, Seamus, Tadhg, or Otto, to mention only a few?

Lilacsunflowers · 09/10/2022 12:34

What's 'brave' about most of these names Confused?

They're much more interesting and memorable than the common names like Alfie, Oliver or Jack!
