This is not on our list, I'm just curious.

I watched "The Matrix" today and a character is Trinity. It made me realise how nice it sounds and looks written down. I'm not considering it but I'm just curious to know whether you like it or not and why.

Also, would you imagine a Trinity's parents to be religious? Or could it also have been used for another reason?

How do you imagine a Trinity, what sort of image does it have?

Thanks! I think it's an intriguing name even though I wouldn't use it myself.

It does sound like some sort of superhero type character.
It's not a name I would choose but I wouldn't bat an eyelid at a kid called that and probably wouldn't give it much thought.

Toddlerteaplease · 08/10/2022 19:19

I've met a child called Trinity. She was an absolute brat.

zen1 · 08/10/2022 19:21

It would remind me of Trinny from Trinny and Susannah. If I heard it, I prop ably would assume the parents were religious.

zen1 · 08/10/2022 19:21

*probably

Soubriquet · 08/10/2022 19:22

You say Trinity, I automatically think The Matrix Grin

PeekAtYou · 08/10/2022 19:22

I would assume that the parents were religious even though Trinity from the Matrix is my first thought.

GlassDeli · 08/10/2022 19:59

I like it. I'm Christian and love the Matrix so it's double thumbs up.

Trinity65 · 08/10/2022 19:59

Great choice OP
😍

Trinity65 · 08/10/2022 20:00

PS It might be shortened to Trins . Just saying

OneFootintheRave · 08/10/2022 20:00

Go for it.

Aquamarine1029 · 08/10/2022 20:01

Trinity is a beautiful word, but I don't think I'd use it as a name.

Notmenottodaynotever · 08/10/2022 20:03

I don't think anyone Christian would name their child Trinity, isn't it a bit like calling them "God the father, Son and Holy Ghost"?

AuntieStella · 08/10/2022 20:05

I know one in RL, and because her parents aren't religious that's not an aspect that had even occurred to me

It's not a name I'm wild about, but I think it's definitely useable (unless your surname is something like Hall, or anything else that would make your DD sound like an organisation or part of an address)

Luredbyapomegranate · 08/10/2022 22:24

I’d either think Religious Maniac or low rent

Probably correct.

UneFilleDeBelleville · 08/10/2022 23:16

I’d assume a Matrix fan. I don’t think it’s a name religious people would use as it’s a bit close to calling your child God.

MsTSwift · 08/10/2022 23:16

Dds friend is one she is Trinny family v cool and she is a superstar teen so go for it

larkstar · 08/10/2022 23:32

As a physicist it only means one thing to me

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trinity_(nuclear_test)

It's not a name I'd consider tbh.

kitcat15 · 08/10/2022 23:39

Both Trinity's i know were named after the matrix

MolkosTeenageAngst · 08/10/2022 23:43

A couple of the drag queens on RuPaul’s Drag Race have been called Trinity and so drag queens are what come to mind to me. Drag queens often try to make their names sound like they would belong to promiscuous women or have some kind of innuendo so to me the name feels like one you would hear given by a woman in a strip club, not one you’d call a child in real life.

GlassDeli · 09/10/2022 02:00

I don’t think it’s a name religious people would use as it’s a bit close to calling your child God.

There are plenty of Spanish blokes called Jesus though. It would be naming your child after the Trinity, in a respectful way, not claiming they actually are especially holy.

SeanChailleach · 09/10/2022 06:20

I think of it as a black name. I like the sound of it and I àgree it looks nice written down. I wouldn't expect the parents to be religious - it seems like a family name, I would expect the child to be named after an aunt.

Cotswoldmama · 09/10/2022 06:45

It would make me think of the matrix and I would think the parents were nerdy, alternative, maybe former goths.

Greenandcabbagelooking · 09/10/2022 06:50

It’s a school. Living here, it would be like calling your child Eton.

Mymoneydontjigglejiggle · 09/10/2022 06:59

Yeah straight away thought of The Matrix and then Rupaul's drag race. I don't really like it as a name.
