Please tell my sister this is a horrible idea

So, my sister told us last night her names ideas, and she was asking which we prefer. They decided that her husband and her would mix their names to create a new name.

So if it is a girl

Jamifer or Jeniams

A boy :

Jems
Jamer

We all told us it was horrible. But she insist on saying "stranger will find that cute". What do you think

OP posts:

Just stay out of it!

What people in some cultures do, when they want to show the family connection and signify who the child's parents are, is to give their child a surname that's the same as theirs - or double-barrelled, if the parents have different surnames.

Might that be an option here?

JulesJules · 17/09/2022 13:16

Good Lord. Tell her to get a cat instead.

LidlCinnamonBun · 17/09/2022 13:17

Jamifer is something I would have chosen when I was really pregnant and had cravings for jam donuts and ate a pack a day

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 17/09/2022 13:18

this is a Balonz isn’t it

Were Balonz's parents called Ballantina and Onzlow?

Jamifer instantly made me think of this 🤣

Hahahahaaaaaa!

This thread has made my day. How have I gone through life without ever hearing something as spectacularly bonkers as Jamifer?!?

SueDCreme · 17/09/2022 13:20

Jamifer Jidipur.... I'm singing that song now

autyspauty · 17/09/2022 13:21

Was she very into twilight? This sounds like something Bella would have done.

YesitsBess · 17/09/2022 13:21

Sitting on a hiiiiiiillllll

SueDCreme · 17/09/2022 13:22

we just said congratulations

And quickly said 'what the f*ck' under your breath?

awwbiscuits · 17/09/2022 13:25

Also, what if they have a second child of the same sex? Way to give them a huge complex when Mum is Jennifer, Dad is James, Sister is Jamifer and they're Linda.

They’ll be getting Jeniams.

have they considered the merits of Jamesifer, not just Jamifer?

Jannifer (with an ay sound), Jennifames?

Or Jennijam? jamejenn?

They could mix it up a bit with Ferames. Niferames? Nifames?

Or Jamfer and Jafer (again, with the ay sound)?

Nifjam? niffermes? Niffames?

Jems is surely a girl’s name. It would have to be Jemes.

So many awful possibilities.

Jamifer has absolutely ended me.

I’m picturing a tiny Lucifer brandishing a pot of strawberry conserve in a menacing fashion.

😂😂😂😂😂

Absolutely no good comes from intervening on other people’s baby name choices. Stay out of it!

Did you miss the bit where the OP said her sister had asked her opinion?

YesitsBess · 17/09/2022 13:28

@SudocremOnEverything are we pronouncing Jenniams as Jenny-ams or similar to popular entertainer Will.I.Am?

I hate it either way but am curious.

SudocremOnEverything · 17/09/2022 13:28

Ennifames?

jamennifer?

OneCup · 17/09/2022 13:29

Well it wouldn't be fair on their second child to miss out on this. Purely on this basis, better they don't do it!

W00p · 17/09/2022 13:30

Jamifer 💀

jenn-I-ams would be hilarious. but everyone would think she’d had an affair with William.

it’s going to have to be jenniames, pronounced Jenny-aymz. beautiful.

But there are SO MANY potential ways to hideously combine bits of their names. They can have many children with this as the plan.

Ishacoco · 17/09/2022 13:32

I can't believe this is true.....I really, really can't. Jamifer????

SudocremOnEverything · 17/09/2022 13:33

Erjam would be a lovely brother for Jeniames.

You have such a way with names.

Such an awful awful way 😂

DogInATent · 17/09/2022 13:36

They sound like 1980s house names. James and Jennifer sell-up their Islington terrace and retire to Norfolk, proudly taking down the "No 69" sign of their new-build semi-detached bungalow in Swaffham and putting up the new house name, "Jeniams". They'll plant out the pampas grass the following weekend.

SammyScrounge · 17/09/2022 13:36

Awful, absolutely awful. Your sister's child is facing a lifetime of having to repeat her name over and over, spell it repeatedly for people who think they must have misheard, and envy the child who can say
'My name is Anne or Paul or whatever .
