Toshi Reagon is a well-known US folk/blues/gospel etc. musician, from a family of musicians. She's named after Toshi Seeger, wife of Pete Seeger (who is Toshi R's godfather). Toshi S's father was Japanese and apparently the name Toshi can be used for both men and women in Japan.

Toshe (Toše) is a nickname for Todor in some Slavic languages.

Probably not relevant in this case, though! Also both of these would likely shorten to Toe-sh rather than Taw-sh.

The Urban Dictionary says that Tosh is "A derisory term used in the same way as rubbish or crap or bollocks. As in 'This coat of paint is utter tosh'".
