How common is Hermione

Hi all,
Someone on a different forum said that Hermione is "extremely common" name for adults in the UK. I'm British and have never met a Hermione or even heard of one IRL.

Stats I've found only go back to the 90s. Obviously it had a peak of popularity in the early 2000s because of Harry potter but it wasn't that popular before was it?

Anecdotally, how many women and girls called Hermione do you know and what age are they please?

I was born in 1957, named Mione only, as having the ‘Her’ would’ve ruined the sound of the name including my surname. It was one syllable! Now I’m married and Hermione plus surname would’ve sounded good together!! 🤷‍♀️ There was an actress called Hermione Gingold born in 1897, my mother told me, so I could tell teachers at school in case they couldn’t pronounce my name. (Of course Hermione is in Shakespeare’s Winter Tale too!) This actress isn’t known now, but fortunately, we do have Hermione Grainger!! 90% of people have struggled with the pronunciation all my life, which has been rather annoying having to keep repeating myself, or being called “Mee-own” in the Doctor’s surgery over the tannoy system!! It is certainly not common!! 😉

It is not as popular as Jessica.

I knew one Hermione before reading Harry Potter. I was the only one who knew how to pronounce her name correctly when I read it Grin

She would be early 30s now. I've never met another.

Nope, never met one IRL!

I only know one in real life, aged about 8 or 9.

I knew one, but she must be in her 70s by now
