LOVE it!! This is one on my list xx

Cotswoldmama · 29/08/2022 20:19

I like it, I wouldn't say it's that unusual though I know 3!

Potatomashed · 29/08/2022 20:20

It’s cute for a kid but I’m not sure about adult Indie?

itsgettingweird · 29/08/2022 20:38

I like it.

I've only ever heard it used shirt for India but I guess it's a name in its own right?

I do really like girls names with an "e" sound on the end though!

Indie
Ellie
Phoebe
Charley
Jaime
Lily
Rosie
Gracie
Poppy
Ruby

I like it as a nickname for India or possible Indigo. Not sure about it as a standalone name, it seems unfinished.

Lwren · 30/08/2022 08:01

I know an adult indie, she was a rockstar. Lovely human, gorgeous name

Libmama · 30/08/2022 08:35

Indie was on our list but it got shot down that much on here when I suggested it it put me off it 😞 We are now going with Piper I think for DC3.

I really love Indie though.

Kghl03 · 30/08/2022 08:57

Indie is on our list! Much prefer it to India :)

yikesanotherbooboo · 30/08/2022 09:16

It isn't unusual but is a nick name if that is what you like as a style.

AmethystMoonShine · 30/08/2022 09:19

Love it, it’s what most people call my dd India… she loves it too.

Pemba · 30/08/2022 09:23

It's awful, sorry. Give her a proper name! India at least (then you could try Indie for short) but preferably a whole other name. What kind of names do your others have?

hopsalong · 30/08/2022 09:31

Yes, I agree with @Pemba. Horrible.

Indie rock, indie pop, indie neighbourhood coffee shop. Etc. In the US the word is used so commonly in these ways it would be much like calling her 'woke'. Dated signifier of once-cool things.

Dunnodontknow · 30/08/2022 15:20

@Pemba mba India is a potential candidate .
Others are Lyla
Emmie and Heidi

I do know one, girl, Indiana. Sister to Arrabella which I do find an odd pair personally. So to me it does depend on your other kids names. Yeah yeah, they will only be together for a short time but if you have Alice, Jessica and Blue then to me that is interesting.

MassiveSalad22 · 30/08/2022 15:23

Oh, Lyla, Emmie, Heidi and Indi(e/a) go perfectly I think!

Luredbyapomegranate · 30/08/2022 15:30

Sweet as a nickname, but it’s just really trying to be cool and miserably failing as a full name.

Short for Indigo or India is grand.

I like Emmeline nn Emmie better though

Luredbyapomegranate · 30/08/2022 15:31

Oh sorry I thought you meant Emmie was another contender - I think Emmie and Indie are too close for sisters

CurlyNo2 · 30/08/2022 16:23

I love it!

Its on my list of girls names 😀

SatinHeart · 30/08/2022 16:27

It's not unusual round my way, there's loads under the age of 5!

It's not overly to my taste, makes me think of Indiana Jones. The list @itsgettingweird posted has lots of nice names on it that give you the -ee sound at the end.

Snowiscold · 30/08/2022 19:02

I really dislike it. It’s popular where I am. I know a few in their early teens.

Tiani4 · 30/08/2022 19:16

Why not India that's a lively name and so close to the name you like

blankittyblank · 30/08/2022 19:26

I really like it! But I know 2 indies (girls) and one boy indy. So it's defo not uncommon...

drunktrifle · 30/08/2022 19:28

It's a cool nn but I wouldn't fancy being called Indie as an adult.

SmallestInTheClass · 30/08/2022 19:35

Indie is very similar to Emmie. I think India would be better with the other names. The only people my age I've met with either name were trustafarian types I came across at uni, but think it would be fine for someone born now as it seems more mainstream.

WaltzingWaters · 30/08/2022 19:44

I love it
