Between 4 boys names.. if you had to pick?

Danish family connection hence slight spelling choice

First.. are these too boring / unbelievably common? There were about 5 of "us" in my year group at school and it's never really been that much of an issue for me, but I'd still prefer to have a slightly less common name than that.

then any strong thoughts or preferences? Our baby is likely to grow up to be WELL over 6ft tall and quite well built with our genes so think something that would suit him..

Thanks

Oscar / Oskar
Max (long name tbd)
Leo
Felix

Leo or Oscar.

DD would have been Leo. I don't think it's too popular.

goldfinchonthelawn · 29/08/2022 09:59

I like Oskar/Oscar first, then Leo - also a great name.

Never much liked Max as a name, even though I know some good ones. Can't stand Felix by association with a tosser of that name.

BeanieTeen · 29/08/2022 10:03

They’re all nice. Felix stands out as the best one for me, but I imagine many others would disagree.

Fivebeanchilli · 29/08/2022 11:16

I'm always interested by regional variations on this board. So many people saying they can't imagine a Felix as a man or that is an embarrassing name... There are 3 17 year old Felixes in ds's year at school (state school). There are far more Oscars to be fair. He was at primary school with lots of Maxes and Leos (at one point a quarter of his male classmates were called Leo) but there are fewer of those at secondary school for some reason.
It's a very very normal name nowadays OP. Go with that one you love best!

Fivebeanchilli · 29/08/2022 11:17

Oh and all the Felixes are reasonably tall and not "fey". Two of them are on the rugby team.

FirstAidKitNowPlease · 29/08/2022 11:37

There are two of each of those in my childs primary school year- all v popular, but for a good reason

I'd avoid felix. It's an odd name for an adult. 🐾

zingally · 29/08/2022 12:21

I like all apart from Oscar.

To me, Oscar is cute on a kid, but weird on an adult. But maybe I just know too many Oscars at the mo!

Hobbesmanc · 30/08/2022 21:55

I love Max. But I'm probs biased because that was the name of a much mourned cat. Oscar is everywhere.

There all good solid choices. What about Rex. It's a little different but has a similar theme.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 30/08/2022 22:00

Oscar. No contest.

GlamGiraffe · 30/08/2022 22:08

Max. And it really suits a strapping tall man. I like Oscar (and have one) but I think max is better given your description and heritage.

Baaaaaa · 30/08/2022 22:39

All nice. Oscar is very popular now. So I'd avoid on that basis.

Felix is my favourite, but needs a simple surname Imo. If you are double barreled could sound a bit pretentious.

Max is a solid name.

megosaurusrex · 30/08/2022 23:01

I really like Oscar, Max and Leo!

megosaurusrex · 30/08/2022 23:02

And Felix that meant to say! 😂

(Leo's ok but not my fave)

HaveringWavering · 30/08/2022 23:47

I've got a Magnus. Norwegian family links.
He is named after Magnus Magnusson and Birgitte Nyborg's son in Borgen, and he loves that his name is the same as the World Chess Champion's.

pimlicoanna · 30/08/2022 23:56

Max. By a long way

SmilingHappyBeaver · 31/08/2022 00:12

Felix is a fab name, followed by Leo.

SmilingHappyBeaver · 03/08/2023 21:44

Felix for sure... I know 4 (adult) Felix's and all are tall, funny handsome, well educated and in successful, professional roles. The name has such positive connotations for me.

Max is lovely too.

salamithumbs · 03/08/2023 22:20

I like Max best, then Leo, then Oscar! The only one I'm not fond of is Felix because it sounds like a cat to my mind 😬

Daisybuttercup12345 · 03/08/2023 22:22

Leo is my favourite 😍

coodawoodashooda · 03/08/2023 22:23
