Between 4 boys names.. if you had to pick?

Danish family connection hence slight spelling choice

First.. are these too boring / unbelievably common? There were about 5 of "us" in my year group at school and it's never really been that much of an issue for me, but I'd still prefer to have a slightly less common name than that.

then any strong thoughts or preferences? Our baby is likely to grow up to be WELL over 6ft tall and quite well built with our genes so think something that would suit him..

Thanks

Oscar / Oskar
Max (long name tbd)
Leo
Felix

I like them all except Oscar....round my way it seems to be the name of badly behaved middle class children with ineffectual parents pathetically pleading "don't do that Oscar".

Love Max,Leo and Felix. Yes they are all very popular though...

underneaththeash · 28/08/2022 12:23

I think they’re all nice OP.
imagine them all being read out over a tannoy with your surname.
also check to make sure that the initials look okay together. They’ll be on a leavers hoodie soon.
if you make a shortlist of 2/3 you can decide when you first meet him.

Max

Max

Max (Maximilian long form)

DuchessOfSausage · 28/08/2022 13:27

Oscar - ok but not a name I'd use
Max - like
Leo - nice but very popular
Felix- ok but not a name I'd use

Lulibee · 28/08/2022 13:29

Try to remember one day he will be a man who will not want to be embarrassed by his name. You're not giving an animal a cutesy name.

Maybe survey your male friends and ask if anyone would be happy to have one of these names.

I’m not being unkind. I have two adult sons who are grateful not to have embarrassing names.

OceanbreezeSun · 28/08/2022 13:31

Max or Leo. Both lovely.

Felix and Oscar remind me of pet names.

Fivebeanchilli · 28/08/2022 13:37

I like Oscar. I know lots (and lots) but don't know any little ones. It was peaking in popularity about 14 years ago in my area.
Max is always popular. Nice but I think there will be lots around.
I really like Leo too (and Leon).
Felix is my favourite.

I'm not sure a list of names entirely in the top hundred, two of which are in the top ten (and Max- names combined come in at 15th) are likely to be embarrassing. I'd be more worried that they are overused.

biggreenhouse · 28/08/2022 13:46

I have a lengthy double barrel surname so can't go very fussy on the first name, which is why they're a bit more on the safe/boring side.
all the initials look OK though and can't think of any embarrassing links to the names.

Oskar

Got2besoon · 28/08/2022 13:55

All except Felix.

We have very similar name preferences OP!

What about Rafael or Luca?

AmeliaLila · 28/08/2022 14:01

Max or Leo, others sound like pets names

JadeSeahorse · 28/08/2022 14:05

Well I'll be pretty useless as I like all of them.😂
However, with your description I am envisioning your DS growing up to be a strappy, blonde hunk and the name I love which immediately comes to mind is Caspar/Kaspar.

mathanxiety · 28/08/2022 14:32

I love Oskar/ Oscar, and also Leo.

Felix is really nice too.

Max for a lad who is likely to be tall and well built might be a bit much.

biggreenhouse · 28/08/2022 14:33

@JadeSeahorse haha yes his dad and uncles are all around 6ft 6 and look like vikings.

Max is my favourite on your list. I like the sound of Felix as a name, but it will always be cat food to me. Oscar is the most popular round here of your selection. I know a few round here.

MayISuggestSomeThickCutSteakChipsToGoWithThat · 28/08/2022 14:51

Felix Oskar

mrsnec · 28/08/2022 14:52

I like them all but Felix is the only one I don't know lots of

Jamaisy82 · 28/08/2022 14:58

I like them all. It depends on your surname too, do they all go well with it? I think Leo or max. It's good to have a name that stands the test of time. Will it sound good when they are a baby and will it suited when they are a grandpa.

MakeWayMoana · 28/08/2022 15:03

I have a Max who’s the only one in his year group of 120 kids. There are two boys called Felix in his class, and another felix in another class in the same year. Conversely there are no Leos and only one Oscar.

You just can’t predict if there will be more than one in their class, so just go with what you like.

WishDragon · 28/08/2022 15:03

Leo and Felix.

I know so so many Oscar’s.

DramaAlpaca · 28/08/2022 15:06

Leo is my favourite by far.

Felix definitely my least favourite.

Well in that case he sounds like a lush Ragnar! ♥️
